shelbyslivka
shelbyslivka Good morning I too was diagnosed in 2014 and I'm 55 years old. I also have fibromyalgia. My MS is under control however I have a niece and nephew that have MS and it is more difficult for them. I never realised that Ms patients are put on chemo. I pray for you all and good luck with your donations and thank you for what you're doing for MS.
Mar 06Reply
jmtaries
jmtaries @shelbyslivka - Glad yours is under control! That's wonderful to hear!! Sorry to hear about your niece and nephew!! Breaks my heart when I hear of other MSers struggling. The chemo is called Lemtrada. Some doctors call it chemo, some don't. It depends on the doctor. It used to be used for Cancer way back in the day.
Mar 06Reply
jmtaries
jmtaries @shelbyslivka - The idea is to "trick" your immune system into resetting itself. You still have MS, but studies show it stops progression, etc. my lesions have decreased and some have even completely faded away!! Some symptoms are better, some aren't. It all depends. They have high hopes for this. Studies show that people are going 10+yrs without relapses!! So ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ
Mar 06Reply
jmtaries
jmtaries @shelbyslivka - I run a Lemtrada support group on FB with a fellow Lemtrada friend to help inform other MSers about the treatment and support those going through it. You're more than welcome to tell your niece and nephew about it if you'd like! I'm glad to raise awareness for MS and money towards it! I don't make much and am waiting for my SSDI since I can't work ๐Ÿ˜•, but I do try and give back every March. *gentle hugs* to you Hun! ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŒท

alexismwills
alexismwills My Dad has had MS and was diagnosed sometime before i was born (1992) it burt so much to watch his health go down, but at least he taught me to walk, ran with me at the park, pulled me up a hill of snow with my sled just so i can have fun, played base ball with me, took me shopping many times, walked me to my first class on the first day of school, and so much more.
Mar 18Reply
alexismwills
alexismwills Unfortunately he has difficulty walking and won't get to walk me down the isle when I get married for the first time this year, but I plan on pushing him down the isle because my I want nothing more than for him to give me away to my fiance.
Mar 18Reply
alexismwills
alexismwills He's doing better since he has therapy and he's been taking the pore natural route with medicine and he's able to walk for a bit and he can still be the smart butt that he is. He's my fighter. My hero.
Mar 18Reply
alexismwills
alexismwills You stay strong! I believe there is a cure out there ๐Ÿ’œ this is a wonderful thing you are doing. I wish you well and joy and happiness.

i_love_heels
i_love_heels I love seeing this post! I have MS--dx'd March 2006 at the age of 29. Can't believe I'm coming up on my 11 year "ms-versary"!. This is a great thing you're doing. I've been volunteering and raising money for years now. It's a great thing--and a way to bring awareness to this ugly disease. I have found my MS to be more of a blessing at this point although I still have those DAYS OR WEEKS where I'm just mad about it. Hope you're feeling well!!! Xx, Melissa ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜Š
Mar 18Reply
jmtaries
jmtaries @alexismwills - I will definitely keep your sweet dad in my thoughts Hun!! It'll be so sweet to have you push him down the aisle with you, just to have him there will be such a blessing!! A more natural diet is great, so are essential oils! I've used those since I was a kid and they help a ton with my inflammation!
Mar 18Reply
jmtaries
jmtaries @alexismwills - I also drink Turmeric Tea that helps too. I am doing Lemtrada (the chemo for MS), it's helped stop the progression of my lesions. Some MSers have gone from not walking to walking!! It's different for everyone, but it's a very promising treatment!!!! What treatment does your dad do?
Mar 18Reply
jmtaries
jmtaries @alexismwills - Thank you Hun!! I believe there is a cure out there as well!! My little girl turns 5 in July and she tells me she wants to grow up to be a Neurologist to help find a cure!! I hope they find one sooner, but I love she wants to help me and others as well! Sounds like your Dad, despite the pain and everything, gave you an amazing childhood! I try to do that for my little girl too! ๐Ÿ’œ
Mar 18Reply
jmtaries
jmtaries @sra68 - *gentle hugs* to your Mom!! I've done the walk every year since getting diagnosed (2013). One year caused me to be paralyzed & hospitalized the day after, but, I still like to participate!! ๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐ŸŽ—

jmtaries @i_love_heels - It makes you realize just how strong you are and appreciate that strength! It makes you appreciate the friends you have that stick around after your diagnosis and makes those friendships that much stronger!! I also love all my MS friends like family! Hate the reason as to WHY we met, but glad we met!!! They're all amazing people!!! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ‘ญ๐ŸŽ—

nia1113
nia1113 @jmtaries I don't know what it's like to walk in your shoes, so to speak; however my own path has many thorns and obstacles to overcome, as well. Because of the fact that we do all we can each day to try to improve & nurture ourselves, be there for our children; & to stay positive when we'd rather crawl under the covers and not deal, I know that God will continue to bless us and meet our needs. You are definitely not alone and what you are going through is not in vain. ๐Ÿ’Nia XOXOXO

nia1113 @jmtaries Hooray!! ๐Ÿ’• That's incredible! It's interesting how strong we really can be when we are faced with immense challenges, isn't it?! You should definitely be proud of this and know that you are making a difference!!! Even briefly looking at some of the comments section here, it's (once again) obvious to me that we have such a supportive, understanding & loving community here on Poshmark! Keep up the amazing job!! ๐Ÿ’•

jmtaries @nia1113 - I absolutely love my Chronic Illness community and the Posh Community! I've met so many wonderful people! It's incredible! ๐Ÿ’– I push to be a better person for my little girl. She'll be 5 this summer.

jmtaries @nia1113 - I carry a lot of guilt feeling like she's getting the short end of the stick having a mommy that's "sick" all the time. So I try to make up for it. I am blessed with an amazing little girl though! She loves laying in bed with me, watching movies! So when I am having a bad day, we have a "Cuddle Movie Day"! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜˜

rmccouture Thanks for the tag Nia @nia1113! Jennifer, I'm sorry that I'm just seeing this! I will add you to my Closets with a Cause listing! I wish you all the best, and pray that a cure is found tomorrow! xoxo Amanda
Mar 30Reply
nia1113
nia1113 @jmtaries I wish I didn't know what you mean by that, girl!! The thing is that you are able to still make it fun and she knows that you love her endlessly. Our children are gifts and they teach us so much about life, who we strive to be and the true meaning of unconditional love. My oldest son is now 22, there were so many days before my diagnosis that I would watch him from my window outside playing or waiting for the bus. ๐Ÿ’”
Mar 30Reply
nia1113
nia1113 @jmtaries ... I am doing a lot better now and I have a lot more energy for my youngest son's (8 & 10) but I still have limitations and that is just the way it is. It's hard but, we do the very best we can, right?! No matter what, they will always know that we love them and are there for them!!! โค๐Ÿ‘ We'll still be their super heroes!! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’‹

jmtaries
jmtaries @rmccouture - Thank you Hun!!! During March, I donate 100% of my proceeds, the rest of the year, I donate 50% of my proceeds!
Mar 30Reply
jmtaries
jmtaries @nia1113 - Exactly!! There's no doubt to her that her Mommy loves her beyond reason!! ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’— I think me having all my chronic conditions helps teach her empathy and although I can't be that Mommy that constantly runs with her and whatnot, I try on good days. I chase her for 2 mins, and even though it's only 2 mins, it's 2 mins of pure bliss for her!! She understands Mommy has to stop and sit or lay down then..... but that giggle during makes the excruciating pain that follows SO WORTH IT!! ๐Ÿ˜
Mar 30Reply
jmtaries
jmtaries @nia1113 - Your boys will be better partners because they grew up with a mother that did her all to make their life "normal" regardless of her being sick.... this will make them be more appreciative of those who love them, etc! ๐Ÿ˜Š That's just so wonderful!
