So at 215 lbs I was tired of not being happy with myself, so I finally did something about it, over the next year I lost at total of 100lbs with no diet pills, no surgery, just merely cutting portions, not eating at night, not eating as much junk food, & I've been 115lbs now for 8 months straight! mboven2283 @sexyshopper46 lol I feel ya there hun, I hated exercising & had a gym membership for 2 years while I was big & only went a handful of times. It was right after I canceled my membership that I made a conscience effort to change my diet. Just keep sticking to it, it'll happen! 😉😊

mboven2283 @taylorarispe thank you hun! Actually hun no exercise at all, I hated exercising, just wasn't for me! This was all from doing the 3 things I mentioned & sticking to it. I do still eat foods I enjoy & still drink regular pop, no diet, lol, I hate diet pop, I just watch how much of certain foods I'm eating & keep all my portions small. Instead of eating the whole plate of food when we go out I'll eat half, save the rest for the next day.

We are all different hun, what works for some may not work for others. I just know for myself it was lack of real effort on my part all these years. I hoped by maybe just showing others that being consistent worked for me it will help encourage others who are going through this as well. I wish you all the best hun! 😉😊

mboven2283 @bristyle0403 yes I agree so much it's all in how you think about yourself! I used to be told I was too fat now by some I'm told I'm too skinny, you can never please everyone, I only aim to please myself, it's been the first time i can look at myself in the mirror & be truly happy with how I look since I was 20. I feel much better in that my legs no longer hurt like they used to, my back no longer hurts as well, from being so top heavy it really used to kill my back.

I just cut out mostly all junk foods, cut back my portions, never ate after dinner time, & I drink a lot of water throughout the day & night. I do like salads, but yes I still used/use my favorite ranch dressing too. Again for me it was changing a few things & being consistent for once with them. 😊

snhjones06 Good for you!!! I definitely understand how long it takes to lose weight!! I was once 300 lbs and I lost 120lbs in 18 months. I cut out alot of foods and exercised when I could. But with me I had 5 kids to run after and take of:), But you should feel very proud of yourself:), I know I do:) God bless amd keep doing the work it will pay off:)

mboven2283 @pregomom29 thank you hun, lol yes when I have to give my license for any reason some people just sit & stare at it for a min or 2 then ask "is this really you" others do a double take & say nothing but their facial expressions are enough to speak for them. But thanks again! 😊 No no I've not lost anymore further weight as well, I've been the same consistently now for around 8 months or so. I haven't gained any nor lost any more, this seems to be the ideal weight for me.

I could write a lot but what motivated me the most was that I'd gotten fed up with being overweight & truly not being happy when I looked at myself in the mirror every time, as well as I got so tired of not liking how I looked in certain clothing items. I got tired of being overweight for going on 8 years then. I know it may seem stupid but I just wanted to wear cute clothes & feel good in them as well, I wanted to be happy with myself.

mboven2283 @amylinnay Yes my family would say I was pretty the way I was & people close to me but you know when I would go into stores to shop for clothes the staff were never too nice to me, they wouldn't even really acknowledge me like they did the smaller sized people, that I noticed over the years always bugged me as well. I just made up my mind once & for all that enough was enough, not to mention carrying all that weight my legs constantly hurt, my back as well from being heavy chested.

mboven2283 @amylinnay I'd be out of breath simply from cleaning my home or doing yard work. I took no pills, no appetite suppressants, no surgery, just had enough of feeling miserable & unhappy with myself because of my weight. I'm not a health junkie, I eat things I like, just in moderation now & still keep my portions the same. I know it's so cliche sounding but everything in moderation & controlling portion sizes really does work.

mboven2283 @amylinnay I found once I really made the commitment & consistently followed through with the portion sizes & cut back on the junk food, stopped eating after dinner that I saw results within about 3 months or so, seeing those initial small results kept me motivated to keep sticking with it, as I said before it did take about 2 full years to lose all I did, definitely not an overnight thing by no means.

mboven2283 @amylinnay You can do it as well dear, just have to find what works for you & just be consistent with it, I know everyone is different, what necessarily works for one may not work for another but all you can do is keep trying. Mine just came from being so fed up & I finally made the decision to be serious about it. I hope this helps dear.

mboven2283 @amylinnay I think people would be amazed at what they can do when they put their mind to it, we often give ourselves so much less credit than what we are truly capable of. I wish you all the best as well. Also now when I want something sweet I've found a lemonade I really like & drinking that seems to satisfy when I do get cravings for sweet food. But if it's been a while then sometimes I do eat something sweet, just not the whole box anymore like I would before. 😊

I myself have 3 children, cooking food 3x a day, you think well I cooked it, spent 3 hours I'm gonna eat it, lol. It's hard I'll admit, I have to watch my 13, 11, & 10 year old eat snacks & this & that & they offer me it too but now I've learned to say no.

I used to eat to make myself feel better only to feel worse shortly after the satisfaction of eating whatever I did went away. No dear I actually got rid of my gym membership before I started losing weight. I'd had one for 3 years only to use it 5x maybe. So no to be very honest I didn't exercise. I wish I had a magical answer but I don't dear.

mboven2283 @amylinnay but again I certainly do believe you can do it! Just stick with it, keep consistent, set a small realistic goal in the beginning, once you achieve it go for more. Keep whatever is your main motivating factor always in mind daily. I faltered for 8 years until I finally was able to find the will power & motivation to really do this. I wish you luck, but luck you don't need, you can do it & you will, maybe not now, not next month but you'll do it when your ready! 😉😊

mboven2283 @sage6263 Thank you. And yes i get what your saying as well about feeling invisible. While I'm not sure we are referring to the same thing exactly but I can tell you I felt I was invisible while being overweight especially when I'd go into stores & 90% of the time get completely ignored by the staff yet they would greet & run to help people who were not overweight.

mboven2283 @sage6263 I'd go places, people would seem to ignore me, almost like as if because of my weight/looks I wasn't worth their time to even be acknowledged. They didn't care to see past their eyes any deeper to even see who I was as a person, my personality. Idk, at least that's how I felt a lot of times.

mboven2283 @sage6263 I know the whole store thing was completely warranted in my feeling that way because I've witnessed firsthand just how differently I started getting treated by the very same staff at the stores I have always been going to. Totally different attitudes & friendliness once I started losing weight, which is a shame really. Should have been that way always no matter what my weight was.

mboven2283 @chicthrift ty! Sorry for the delayed response. It's ok, lol lots of people ask all the time. I never really had a diet per say. I just cut my portions in half, stopped eating all the sweet foods, stopped eating at night and after dinner. Just would drink water after eating dinner. And over months I started seeing results. So that encouraged me to keep going and sticking to it.

mboven2283 @chicthrift I really do like salads anyway so I eat salads a lot, but yes do use ranch and not even fat free ranch. For me it seemed to be cutting down the portions and cutting out a lot of sweets I used to eat way more than I should and the stopping of eating throughout the night. It is hard to say no to my favorites things at times, that's not to say I never eat them now and again, I do, just not ever the amounts I used to.

mboven2283 It took 2 full years to lose the weight, so surely something that didn't happen overnight by any means. And on the contrary to some people thinking because I look so small that I'm starving all the time, lol I'm surely not, I eat till I feel full and that's it, then I stop! I've not gained any back, have been the same weight for over 2 years now as well. So I just keep doing as I've been. I appreciate the compliment though!

mboven2283 I find I've gotten so many supportive nice comments on here versus in my personal life and my pics on my fb account where some rude person has something nasty or snide to say! I've been made fun of when I was overweight and still get it from strangers now that I'm skinny! I've found someone will always have something not so nice to say no matter what I weigh!

mboven2283 @seydiva Aww your welcome. I just figured in sharing my experience it could show others it is possible to do this, because I had once thought it was impossible as well! I certainly don't think it's ever too late to try! Just make a few changes & go from there. Be consistent with it & see it through. It may take a few months to see results initially. However everyone is different & I'm no expert, just wanted to share what I found worked for me after years of struggling.

I'll not lie though it's tough some days, but I've come to the realization that I can't go ever go back to eating the way I did, just doesn't work for me. I'll never be one of those people that can eat whatever they want, whenever they want, & as much as they want! Lol, self control!!

Although I understand it's not always that simply put for people. My bad habits were eating too much portion wise & eating throughout the night, & eating way too much sweet foods. So once I really changed all that I saw results which encouraged me to keep going.

kimberly182535 @mboven2283 I agree with it's all about portion size. I lost 40 lbs but I had the help of phentermine so it was easy for me to eat little. That was two years ago and I have gained back 10lbs.without the phen I have a hard time with portions now.If we were having sandwiches for dinner I would eat half a sandwich.I didn't exercise.With me I have a little harder time losing weight because I take zyprexa which is notorious for rapid weight gain and of corse. U do look great

At times I get irritated because I want to eat certain things or I'd like forget about watching my portions, it really is like a whole life style change! mboven2283 @lattetati lol so yes i got hungry at night & still do some nights. I stick to not eating after dinner & do drink a lot of water during the day & at night. If im craving something at night usually its sweet i will drink some of my favorite lemonaide. And no its not diet, Calypso lemonaide, its my fav & satisfies my sweet tooth. I just cut out mainly all the extra junk foods i was eating & cut my portions in half & stuck to that.

mboven2283 @lattetati i dont eat diet food or low fat food as i dont like any of it. I dont have any strict diet. Ive just stayed consistent with what i started. I couldn't ever follow a diet that i didnt like....eating stuff i dont like. I wanted to do something i could realistically stick with, lol if that makes sense. With the exception again of dessert foods, snack cakes, cookies, candy bars, etc. I will rarely if ever eat that kind of stuff anymore.

mboven2283 And yes on occasion i will eat dessert or whatever but its far & few between. I just don't ever go back to my old eating habits & so far its worked. As ive said to others yes its difficult at times, id be lying if i said its easy, its not. However what helps is when i see myself now & think of myself before & the satisfaction of how i look now far out weighs the temporary satisfaction the bad food im tempted to eat will give me.

mboven2283 I dont have any magic answer for you. But maybe think about how much your eating & cut it down if you know your eating a bit too much & try not eating after dinner. Make it realistic though for yourself so you can stick to it. Ive always thought id like to write a book on this......its difficult to explain the whole 2 years it took & the after as well in depth. Anyway, I never would have thought I'd ever actually do it. I've said it many times here to people it's still hard though for me at times. But I've still been sticking to it!
