Beautiful and smart wood sorrel has been known to predict rain before even a rain drop falls. Native Americans and informed hikers know to take shelter when this forest floor plant shuts its heart shaped leaves and tucks in its flower petals to protect from the impending storm. Its treefold leaves are used to simbolyze holly trinity in many works of art.
