NEW IN BOX ... 1993 The Journey of the Magi -- The Departure 1st Edition by RWP Wilton Armetale. Made in the USA. The metal plate is not pewter but made from a proprietary alloy of more than 10 metals, but are primarily aluminum. Artist Stephen Sechrist designed the plate. He's a close relative of the Wilton family. The plate is in its original box with original paperwork and Certificate of Authenticity, all in new, never used condition. Production of this plate was limited to a maximum of 5000 and discontinued on December 31, 1993. The plate measures about 9 inches in diameter. It is marked on the back, The Journey First Edition, RWP, The Wilton Co. Pictured is Balthazar at the journey's onset. He is carrying a jar of myrrh, a rare orange-colored gum used as a perfume unguent. He is pointing at a shooting star on the upper edge of the plate's rim. It is the first in a series of three from "The Journey of the Magi" collection, which commemorates the travels of the three Magi to Bethlehem to witness the birth of the Christ child. A beautiful collectible.
