This NOS Galaxy Cherry Syrup Spaceman Bottle from 1953 is in pristine condition, with no issues. Information about the The Space Foods Company of Baltimore: Space Foods anticipated the public's excitement over space exploration. Despite its name suggesting otherwise, the company's sole product was flavored syrups, not food for space. These Galaxy Syrups, available in six flavors, were intended for making flavored sodas and drinks at home. Although they featured space-themed designs, the syrups never reached production due to the company's bankruptcy in 1953 before their launch. Consequently, the bottles have been sold as New Old Stock
Galaxy Syrup bottles come in ten different designs, each roughly 8.5 inches tall and 3 inches wide. Each held 16 ounces of syrup, which was indicated by text on the cap. The glass bottles were designed with flat planes for the application of the spacesuit design and eye window, with the bottle shaped to resemble a human standing with legs parted and arms resting at the side. The spacemen have a shaped helmet, including side protrusions that suggest a pivoting visor. The back of the bottle is shaped to resemble a jet pack, with the text “Rocket Jets” embossed on the two raised canisters. The cap was lined with a coated insert to ensure fresh syrups, but this liner could be popped out and a slit in the top would allow the bottles to become coin banks.
