Originally patented in 1914, C.C. Filson’s Cruiser was designed for foresters working in the rain-soaked Pacific Northwest forests. The Cruiser rapidly became one of the most imitated jackets on the market. With its utility and performance also appreciated by hunters, Filson goods were adopted by the U.S. Forest Service as early as the 1920s, and by the 1940’s, Filson was producing variations of the Cruiser as U.S.F.S. field and uniform attire.
This piece is vintage, and carries its paper tag. Reads Lot 175, size 42, CC Filson Co Seattle, 100% Wool. Guessing 70s, based on label. Filson style 175. Whipcord is what they now call Forestry cloth.
4 snap front pockets, with slots for pens or small tools under the left breast pocket flap. Small slot pocket under the left hip snap pocket.
Large rear map pocket.
Marked size 42.
This jacket is practically PERFECT. It does not appear to have been worn. It still has its new-feeling stiffness and needs to be worn & broken in a bit. The only clue that it may have been worn is that the enamel on some of the snaps has worn off where a finger would press to snap them. See photo.
