This is beautiful… Too bad I don’t use Wallet, but I will show my friends… Because I love the Turkish/persian rugs etc ..design… I actually am selling a Turkish bag that is framed in plexiglass box…for $85..The framing alone was over $200… It’s just not posted here… It must be a size limit thing… Or weight..I’m not sure why… Otherwise I have to sell it some other way… Anyway thanks for your likes.. appreciate it

@orangedjf good morning ☀️ i bought a few bags myself when i was in Istambul. I think that is a steel price. Maybe you can het more on other sites.
I have a question: did you paint pictures you are selling?
orangedjf
Absolutely, all the artwork you see on my side our paintings I did, mostly when I was a student and just a few years after that… So my stuff has changed… When I was living in Los Angeles I was doing a lot more gallery shows… But now the art world has changed, too much digital crap out there… Not enough painting… But yes, they are my pieces, and I need to get back into doing more painting…

@orangedjf yes you do. I like nude with hand and a bottle the best. I paint myself. More classical, but haven’t done it in ages. I scavenge garage sales and goodwills. Get back into it. I don’t know much about art world, but if it is anything like science - it is gone to shits... how was CAI? Did you like it?

The thing is, there are a lot of young people who go to art school… Not because they have talent, it’s because they don’t want to go to a regular school… You can’t learn to be a better artist, either you have talent or you don’t.… A couple of my teachers were great because they treated me like a colleague not a student… But the best thing about the school of the Art Institute, is access to the museum. Those artists were my best teachers.

@orangedjf talent is a funny thing. I was plucked in 6th grade and sent to art school/academy: 7am-2pm regular school, homework, 4-9pm art classes (yeah, back in the ussr they did not screw around 😉🤣) then got here, did something at UW-Madison, and what? Went 180 degrees other way. I can’t be happier then in a lab with a sound of my hood humming and my cells glowing under the microscope
Maybe i need to do a full circle and go back to art 🤣🤪 if i remember how to hold brush...😜

I view art and science as being very similar… Color chemistry is something that many artists struggle with. I love science as well, and architecture… I actually want to be a doctor like my father, my aunt, my uncle,… I have several in my family… And one who works at Los Alamos… A nuclear physicist… you have a great stuff on your website by the way… Very cool…

I can’t believe you went to Wisconsin/ Madison… I actually grew up in Lake Geneva Wisconsin… And most of my friends went to Madison… I spent many weekends there wasted off my ass…You’re interested in art, design and science… There is a science to great design, proportions etc.… I’m sure you know that. Just go for it, now that things are ridiculous… Not by accident I believe… You might as well experiment and do some work…✌️🙏

@orangedjf there is something to be said for science/art relationship. I guess both require looking at bigger picture and abstract thinking. Both require to see how a little detail will fit into whole.... i came from family of doctors too 😉

@orangedjf i do a little watercolor, mostly because it is unforgiven (i usually do oil. Don’t like acrylic at all). I am weird as far as art concerned. I don’t get modern tendencies in art (other then Bansky) Need to list a few pictures i am ready to replace. Do you collect art?.
orangedjf
I don’t like using acrylic as well… I only use it if I don’t have a choice or if I decide to use mixed media… But as far as using straight up acrylic paint on a canvas only… I think it’s kind of amateurish and I don’t like the pigment… Doesn’t have the same look as real oil paint…
orangedjf
But then again I’ve used house paint, I’ve used condiments.Ive ground up pastels and mix it with oil/water..When you’re broke in LA .. no materials you just use what you can get.As far as collecting art, I don’t buy other art.. rugs, antiques, mid century modern furniture, photographs, yes..Sometimes they might trade..David Hockney‘s boyfriend wanted to trade some of his dishes for a painting… Normally I would, but I needed the money… I was too desperate at the time so now I regret it.

@orangedjf everything has its price. For that moment you needed money, and it was an absolutely right decision to make. Don’t even think twice about it 😉😊
