A Banana Republic collector's item, this incredible 100% cotton Dress Stewart tartan-print flannel shirt is from the early days of Banana Republic after it was founded by Mel and Patricia Ziegler in Mill Valley, California. The shirt still has the original postcard that they attached to each shirt. The Zieglers wrote in their autobiography about how they attached these postcards to their garments. You could fill out the postcard, mail it to a post office box, and start receiving their catalogues. This shirt had some straight pins in it from when they folded and shipped it. I removed the straight pins to put the shirt on the dress form and take the photos.
This shirt is collarless but originally came with 3 interchangeable collars. There's a buttonhole at the nape of the neck of the shirt to button whatever collar you wanted to use to the shirt. I don't have the collars that came with the shirt, so it has to be worn in the collarless style. The last photo in this listing shows the original offering for this shirt in Banana Republic's Holiday 1985 catalogue. The collarless option is the bottom one shown on the catalogue page.
The shirt buttons in the front, on the sleeve cuffs, and at the top of both chest pockets. True to early 1980s style, the shirt has shoulder pads.
The below measurements were taken on the front with the shirt buttoned up and laid flat.
Pit - Pit: 23"
Side Seam: 12"
