NWT Fair Trade Red Marble Felt Ball Trivet (100% Wool, Handmade in Nepal)

This wool trivet is as beautiful as it is ethical. It's made with 100% felted wool (that is sustainably sourced) by an artisan group in Nepal whose mission is to empower communities while preserving cultures. The artisans work for a U.S.-based Fair Trade organization called Women of the Cloud Forest that has been working in fair trade since 2001. Women of the Cloud Forest forms direct, long-term relationships with small family workshops and cooperatives in Nicaragua, Nepal, Ecuador, and Peru. Besides placing orders with those workshops, it also provides training in business and product development/design and offers no-interest micro-loans and direct grants. The trivet measures approximately 8 inches in diameter (each felt ball measures about 20 mm). It is vibrant in color -- a mix of a dark red/burgundy that is almost brownish and a brighter red. Spot clean with water, then let air dry. It comes with a paper tag that says, "Made in Nepal" and "Felted Fields" and "Made of sustainable wool" and "Fair Trade". It also says, "Women of the Cloud Forest" on the tag and notes that the organization is a member of the Fair Trade Federation. This trivet is NWT. It makes a wonderful present, especially for someone who cares about handmade items, fair-trade goods, and/or Nepal. Because it is red in color, it is also appropriate for a holiday table setting.
