@swingandamiss18 no, dear. Your source is inexact. There is lab created Morganite anf there is NATURAL MORGANITE. This one is the NATURAL KIND. Still not rare,but difficult to find in this quality. You are confused with Nano . Morganite, which is lab created. Check your sources, before commenting 🌺

@marriamurray He definitely said morganite as we were between that and ruby for my engagement ring. Morgan is my middle name which I thought was cool for getting that stone but we are leaning ruby since his recommendation.

@swingandamiss18 here is what I know: Since you probably will want to wear your ring often, Corundum ( Ruby, shppire, emerald,, morganite, Aquamarine ) is second unharness in natural gemstones, after diamond. Any of those have the hardness you want for daily use.

@swingandamiss18 I also recommend you to change jeweler, since becoming one, it's not mandatory to be GIA certified ( to past a test about knowledge about all gemstones) it's just about having the money to open a jewelery store. Rubies come in sooooo many quality levels and many of them are lab created, and most treated. You need someone who really knows his stuff, and this one obviously doesn't.

@marriamurray I wish that were possible but the jeweler is a friend of my boyfriend's family. The ring will likely be on daily, yes, so both ruby and morganite are equivalent in hardness? That's good to know. The jeweler also told us that ruby is precious whereas morganite is semi-precious. Is that correct? Doesn't matter to me a whole lot but curious what else he might have been misinformed on.

@swingandamiss18 Morganize is a RARE semiprecious stone, the same as Aquamarine. the quality is what's important. There are aquamarines that cost tens of thousands per carat, while others don'r, same with Rubies, Sapphire , Emerald and even diamonds. Morganite is underpriced because it' haven't reach a fame yet, but it will soon rise in price ▶️

The hardness of Morganite, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and Aquamarine is almost identical, as long there's not a crack in the stone.
Diamond is the hardest, followed by the lab. created Moissanite ▶️

Precious and semi precious just means that the precious are known for the longest time and they are high in hardness. But like you see, they are others. Emerald and Morganite share a compound ▶️
