The symbols you see close to the tips are not associated with Germany. They are ancient symbols known to the Navajo as whirling logs. This is an older piece that has been polished and these symbols were more common with the old pieces. The numerous symbols on this piece represent kachinas, arrows, snakes, whirling logs, and rattlesnake jaws.
