The Nike Space Hippie 02 “Hyper Crimson” (This Is Trash) is constructed with Nike’s own “space junk.” Made of at least 50% recycled material by weight, this model’s “Space Waste Yarn” upper includes about 90% recycled polyester – made from recycled plastic bottles, t-shirts and yarn scraps – and is patterned with terry cloth zones designed to maximize comfort, according to Nike. Finally, a soft Crater Foam midsole combines Nike Grind with a blend of foams for stability, while the shoe’s insole is made from ZoomX foam scraps, the same cushioning that is prominent in Nike’s NEXT% running shoes.
