Born and educated in Denver, Colorado before traveling extensively and settling down in France, Kenneth Martin Snodgrass was a painter, portraitist, caricaturist, author and theater director. After completing time in the military, Snodgrass attended the University of Denver, through which he was also able to attend Mexico City College in the summer of 1959.
After receiving his Bachelor's degree of Fine Arts and a Master's of Art Snodgrass traveled extensively; hitchhiking from Denver to San Francisco before going to Europe. An active artist through out his travels, Snodgrass visited Amsterdam, Spain and in Germany to Munich, Heidelberg and Stuttgart, where a show in the Galerie Lutz met with a certain success in 1964.
Further time spent in Europe involved Snodgrass working as a caricaturist for the satirical journal ”Simplissimus” and teaching art to NATO soldiers, as well as involving himself in theatre. While living in Evreux, Snodgrass directed plays by Eugène Ionesco, Murray Schisgal and John Carlino and created his own theater company. In 1973, Snodgrass made frequent trips between France and the United States after an invitation by the University of Ottawa, Kansas to be an artist in residence.
