Papo de Asis (1945-2005) is a pioneering social realist artist whose work has been a powerful force in the Philippine art scene since the 1970s. As a founding member of Kaisahan, he used his art to resist Martial Law, creating murals that exposed military atrocities and human rights violations. Even after migrating to the U.S., he remained an artist-activist, leading workshops, political art initiatives, and founding Habi Arts. His art continues to inspire social consciousness and collective resistance
