Original Oil Painting on Recycled Aluminum Plate 10" x 4" Basswood Twigs Gallery

Basswood Twigs by Ann Singsaas is an original oil painting on recycled plate aluminum. Green basswood with buds in shades of deep fuchsia and pink. Brushed aluminum plate is 10" x 4" and protrudes 3/4" off the wall. Great for a gallery wall or small space. Sits uniquely out from the wall a bit which gives it the bolder and modern look. Wisconsin artist, purchased in a gallery show in 2010. From the artist's website: The Works on Metal series is all about contrast. Contrast in rendering the object and its shadow, but also in the papery, natural texture of birch bark versus the flat machine-made texture of the metal. The oil on metal technique started as a challenge among a small group of graduate students at Eastern Michigan University. We were to paint with our materials in antitheses to our subject. I chose birch bark versus sheet metal. I love all the fine detail of a few simple blades of grass with their endless shades of green, graceful curves brought up against a homogenous surface like brushed copper. The choice of botanical subject versus industrial substrate is intentional and serves to illustrate the constant push and pull of our natural and man made worlds. Works on aluminum are durable and can be gently wiped clean with a damp, lint-free cloth, then a dry one. Great condition. One corner has a slight bend, see photos. Ready to hang.
