@elena4you Thank you! It is! I'm so glad it came to me intact.

@bbbabe3715 Originally where is it from; if I may ask?
bbbabe3715
@elena4you Yes, certainly. It was my niece's maiden great aunt's - I'll have to ask her how old she'd be today, but if my memory serves me, she passed away almost a decade ago - I believe she was 100 or soon to be that age when she died. They were an affluent family in Cromwell, CT, where they a had a huge home.

@bbbabe3715 Amazing story behind this piece, perhaps it was special made for the family? Thank you for sharing!!
bbbabe3715
@elena4you The maiden great aunt was the last survivor of her generation. One of her siblings (this my niece's great uncle), was a Big Band recording artist in the 1940's named Hal MacIntyre. I've seen some of my niece's collection of photos and articles about him and have a CD re-recording of his work. It was likely his originally. I'm selling it for my niece - I'll probably hear from my niece today and will inquire if I'm accurate about the age of the aunt and when she passed away.
bbbabe3715
Yes, I imagine it may have been. When my niece showed me a photo of the family home it came from, I was quite surprised! I hadn't realized she came from a wealthy family, but the home demonstrated how affluent they were!

@elena4you Thank you for inquiring about the piece. I'm sure my niece, (she's my nephew's wife), will be quite pleased to know you enjoyed hearing of her family! She enjoys speaking of them. Much of the momentos of Hal's musical career she's given to an author who's working on a book about him. He was a Big Band leader in his own right but also toured with others of the era. Thank you for inquiring!

I spoke with my niece. Her Aunt Florence passed away in 2018 at the great age of 102. Her brother Hal played with Benny Goodman as well as with Glen Miller but also as I'd mentioned had his own orchestra. Benny Goodman was driving through Connecticut and heard Hal's orchestra on the radio. He called Hal to say how much he enjoyed his sound. Hal responded, "If you're Benny Goodman, I'm Santa Claus." He also told Benny if he was who he said he was, he'd call Hal again in the evening.

@elena4you Benny called - the rest was musical history.🎶🎷🎺🎼🎵

@bbbabe3715 Interesting story!! Thx for sharing .. My dad's name was Benny may he rest in peace 🙏
bbbabe3715
@elena4you Oh Benny is a wonderful name, I'm do sorry you've lost him. I enjoyed sharing the Florence and Hal's story with you - my niece was delighted to know you inquired about her family. My husband and I had a brick and mortar antiques shop for 34 years. It's always seemed so sad to me that items become dispossessed without their story, their Provenance. Thank you for promoting me to share what is known of this lovely piece,Elena.💕 Laurel

@bbbabe3715 I love stories behind precious keepsakes/antiques. I do appreciate your sympathies about my dad. I'm from Santa Clara County in Ca. and back in the day, there was tons of antique shops. Sadly there is may be 4 left. Many have gone online to sell. I love meeting new people in the world and sharing. Give my regards to your niece and have a blessed night!

I will continue to share this item daily and its unique and I know theirs's many pet lovers on Posh ready to scoop up such a adorable piece. In our area Boxer dogs are very popular pets to have in the family.

Thank you so much,Elena🥰

it was a difficult decision to close our antique shop. My husband has performed a 5 year apprenticeship in antique conservation working on 17th- first quarter 19th Century furniture - an open shop was a necessity to promote him as a conservator. But antique furniture fell out of favor - younger people weren't interested. And because we sold primarily furniture, selling on line to whomever might have interest wasn't feasible.

@elena4you Please have a blessed day, too, and thank you once again 💞
