Pair of Chinese Dragon Statues

In Chinese mythology, dragons are seen as symbols of power and authority and are believed to have control over water and weather. The color red is significant, as it symbolizes good fortune and happiness. Dragons are everywhere in China - in legends, festivals, astrology, art, names, and idioms. Emperors in ancient China were identified as the "sons of dragons" because dragons symbolized imperial power. At that time, ordinary people were not allowed to have items with pictures of dragons on them. In Chinese culture, the year 2024 is known as the year of the dragon. This pair of Chinese dragon statues are uniquely sculptured with varying shades of red and black resin. Each dragon is displayed on a resin stand. Each dragon is dressed in a harness and saddle. Each dragon proudly has a front hoof on the top of a treasured object. One dragon protects a globe, while the other dragon protects a foo dog. Both dragons have their mouths open and stand proudly with tails up. These dragons came from an estate of several collectible antique Asian artifacts. The exact age of the dragons is unknown; however, it appears to be from the early to mid-20th century, making them from the Chinese Quing Dynasty.
