Harry Koolen was a Dutch painter born on June 22, 1904, in Meerssen, and he passed away on January 26, 1985, in Terworm Castle, Heerlen. He is known for his impressive body of work, which includes various murals created for notable locations in the Netherlands. Some of his notable mural projects include those for the Brand Bierbrouwerij in Wijlre (1937), the Air Force Staff building in The Hague (1956), the Middelburg Abbey (1957), the Campina milk factory in Eindhoven (1960), and the PTT (1967) in The Hague. Koolen remained dedicated to painting until his death, and his final moments were spent in his studio surrounded by his last works.
