They just happen to be made of Patagonia's classic Baggies™ fabric—SUPPLEX® recycled nylon. Since about 71 percent of the Earth's surface is covered by water, there's a pretty good chance you are near it on any given day. Patagonia's Barely Baggies™ Shorts are designed for that day (and night, too). They're made from durable, quick-drying SUPPLEX® recycled nylon to lessen our dependence on petroleum and cause less air, water and soil contamination compared to using non-recycled nylon. They also have a DWR (durable water repellent) finish to repel moisture like a sea otter's fur so they're almost dry by the time you get back in the boat after a quick dip to cool off. Did we also mention the fabric is Fair Trade Certified™ sewn? (More on that below.) The fit is casual with a covered elasticized waistband that houses an internal drawstring to customize the fit and, more importantly, keep them on as you crash your boogie board into the sand in front of your significant other's family. You'll discover the vertical side pockets with mesh linings are positioned to reduce drag in the water and allow for quick draining. They're big enough to stash your sunscreen (so it's handy to reapply every hour) or wax for your surfboard. There's also a hidden rear mesh pocket that will hold your phone in a pinch.
