Original “Liberators” 14th Armored Division of WWII patch was circulated between 1942-1945. It is an interlocked ornament, found in Nordic monuments, composed of three torques: red for Artillery; blue for Infantry; and yellow for Cavalry. The symbols represent the characteristics of Armored Divisions: the tank track, mobility and armor protection; the cannon, fire power; and the red bolt of lightning, shock action.
Purchased at an Military Surplus store in Jackson Heights, Queens, NYC. It does have some dirt on it that could be cleaned with a degreasing detergent (purchased that way). Reverse is raw. Quality embroidery. There is no fraying or signs of wear other than the dirt, which, I think adds character 😊. Good condition.
A token of history that could be a perfect fit for your next patchwork garment project!
