In contrast to Santa Clause who gives good children presents, Krampus punishes children who have misbehaved during the Christmas season. He often beats them with a stick and tosses them into his sack so he can transport them to Hell. This particular depiction of Krampus features him in a “lucky cat” pose with his tongue sticking out and bells around his waist. He has horns, a tail, and chains.
