I love the Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) the day of the year when the veil between the physical world & spiritual world is the thinnest.
Calaveras (sugar skulls) are skulls made of cane sugar, used as gifts for the dead & also given as gifts among the living as little holiday treats.
I enjoy the ornate designs of flowers, spiderwebs, & jewels that epitomize sugar skull artwork and have been coloring these as I prepare to become a sugar skull facepainter to work Dia de los Muertos festivals throughout the country.
I am selling my colored works, which I named according to the personality or vibe once I've completed each piece.
I call this one "Peacock Carnival" because the color scheme is that of a peacock, and it has carnie vibes.
