About the design/designers: People Will Always Need Plates is the creation of Hannah Dipper and Robin Farquhar. Launched in 2003, they use high quality, low volume batch production to create witty, thoughtful and stylish products as a direct antithesis to the current proliferation of cheap, throwaway design. In keeping with the credo that good design should be used and enjoyed, treasured and shared, they develop products that, while diverse in style and application, always retain the fundamental values of functionality and beauty. In 2013, plates from the People Will... archive became part of the permanent ceramics collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum, acknowledging their influential position in the contemporary British production ceramics story. Commissioners include the Royal Festival Hall, Hayward Gallery, Design Museum, Hepworth Wakefield, Turner Contemporary, De La Warr Pavilion, London Transport Museum, Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly. This is a tea towel showcasing their design featuring the Barbican Centre in London. It's a really neat, striking piece.
