In the Pinctada Máxima we will obtain a thickness of 0.3mm since they only remain in cultivation for one year. On the other hand, in the Pteria penguin we will obtain a thickness of 1.2mm nacre, since they are in cultivation for two years. Mabe pearls are large, hemispherical pearls that are pink, blue, or green if they come from the Pteria penguin. On the other hand, if they come from the Pictada Maxima they can be white, silver or gold. There is also Mabe pearl from French Polynesia in grayish colors, as in the case of Tahitian pearls.
