The kuripe is a small, hand-made applicator in the shape of a tube or “Y” that is used in ceremonies and spiritual practices for the self-application of rapé (a powder made from tobacco and other medicinal herbs). The kuripe is specifically designed to administer rapé from the mouth to the nostrils, allowing for a ritualistic self-application experience. This instrument is usually made from natural materials such as wood, bone, ceramic or bamboo stone. This kuripe is handmade by Peruvian artisans in Cusco.
