These babies are made of bisque porcelain and were originally designed as decorative weights to hold a silk shawl on a piano to keep it dust-free. The original figurines were made in Germany until WWI. In 1950’s Japan started producing these adorable figurines thru to 1980’s. There are no makers marks however I believe these were produced in Japan.
Very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There are slight manufacturing flaws and paint imperfections consistent with handmade pottery; this does not affect the sweetness or design of these adorable babies. The little boy with his hands in the air appears to have a shadow of blue in the porcelain on the tips of his fingers.
