Pickard has a long history in America, starting in Wisconsin in 1893 and moving to Illinois in 1897. They specialized in hand-painted china by hiring European china painters, having the porcelain cast in Europe, and importing the blanks back to the U.S. to be painted in their studio. Pickard remains a family owned business and is famous for making china used in the White House.
