Pigeon Forge Pottery Tile and Wood Tray / Serving Platter. This is a Vintage hand crafted Mid Century piece, signed on the back "Pigeon Forge Pottery, Pigeon Forge Tennessee". It is made of wood with a tile mounted in the center. The center tile has a 3D design of a Wheat Sheaf. Overall it is in very good condition. There are a couple of small scratches on the wood on the front, and some use wear on the back, but no chips or cracking. This is a large tray that measures 14 inches in diameter. Pigeon Forge Pottery was founded by Douglas Ferguson in 1946 when he noticed that the red clay of Pigeon Forge Tennessee made strong, beautiful pottery. He went on to become a leading American potter. After 53 years of running the pottery studio, Ferguson retired and Pigeon Forge Pottery closed its doors in 2000.
