Pink Aragonite Crystal Palm Stone

Aragonite is a carbonate mineral and one of the three most common naturally occurring crystal forms of calcium carbonate ( CaCO 3), the others being calcite and vaterite. It is formed by biological and physical processes, including precipitation from marine and freshwater environments. Aragonite can be found as hot spring deposits when water, releasing calcium upon reaching the air, forms mounds and thick crusts around the spring ("travertine"). Gem-quality crystals of Aragonite can be found in Germany and Austria. Other sources include Czechoslovakia, Sicily, Greece, Spain, and Japan.
