Polish Pottery Setting Hen Casserole Serving dish Dish

Fabulous 8" x 7" Polish Pottery oval covered dish in the shape of a setting hen. Holds about 1.5 quarts, and would be great for vegetables. Made by the Kalich Pottery in Boleslawiec, Poland, this gorgeous serving dish is hand-painted, signed Joshua K. and high-fired, so is freezer to oven safe according to the manufacturer. The pattern is marked UNIKAT, meaning unique in Polish. The pottery was opened in 2001. I do not know the name of the pattern, but have not found one on retail or secondary sale sites, so it may be discontinued. This type of pottery is highly collected, and all patterns are stunning with dark blue background and hand- painted designs. This design is a glorious field of colored flowers, red predominating, with creamy white dots on the signature cobalt blue background. I see no flaws or crazes. This type of dish retails for about $188.
