snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 that picture is shows a large square I appliqued onto the back of a 4th of July quilt I’ve been working on on and off in between orders. The decorative stars stitch goes off the edge on that one, but could also do a plain stitch close to the edge.

snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 also, the extra straight stitch on the inside doesn’t have to be there. I just put it there for decoration. On say a pumpkin, I would only do the stitch near the edge

kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches ahh I see. I bet that quilt is going to be beautiful.
Aug 16Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches I am thinking one pillow for every month so 12 total and a pillow size of 18x18.
Aug 16Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 that quilt is actually almost finished. I just need to add some gingham strips in the center between the four quadrants and bind it with the red gingham, I just don’t work on it very often. I should be able to give you a better idea about if I can get the Halloween one finished on time in September. We can do them in batches of 3-4 months at time or all at once. We’ll see once I get some progress on the five quilts I’m working on.
Aug 16Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches It is looking good. Your plan on the pillow covers sounds good.
Aug 16Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 I know I requested we wait until September, but I am in good shape on my timeline for the five quilts I’m working on, so I can do the Halloween pillow in time. Let’s plan for just the Halloween one for the first round because I can more easily fit one pillowcase into the timeline. After that first one, we can look at doing more months at a time based on whatever else I’m working on at the time.

snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 If you want to do seasonal prints, especially for the holiday theme ones coming up, it might be a good idea to go ahead and give me your fabric requests since stock on seasonal and holidays tends to sell out quickly. Solids in colors that go well with the holidays may not be as likely to have trouble getting them (for example black or orange solids for Halloween).
Aug 24Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 I do have some seasonal stuff I already bought for some seasonal and holiday quilts I was gonna make for some ready to purchase items. If you are interested they are pictured in this listing. All are regular cotton except the fall color plaid is flannel.

kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches Actually I am still trying to figure out what I want. Would you be able to make me a couple jumbo double sided receiving blankets with a decorative trim?
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches If it is possible to make the receiving blankets I would like them to be two yards long(before the sewing and such of course) and however wide the fabric comes. One set 17166059 giraffe and 1150853 giraffe print. Another blanket set I would like is 17453366 I love you words and 16850521 Buffalo plaid.
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 yes. I can do those. Even after the sewing and first was shrinkage, those blankets would be huge, almost 6 feet long by about 3.5 feet wide. What did you have in mind for the decorative trim? Something link a binding? Also, it will be around mid September to October before I can start on them? Is that time frame ok for you? I will look up these fabric as and get you a price quote.
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 as far as the two yards length, is that for two blankets, each finishing out as about 3 feet by 3.5 feet? So two blankets for each print combo, four total? Just want to be sure I have all the details straight.
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches Sorry I meant decorative stitch along the edge. Oh and I’m going to be bold and maybe on one we can do a blue thread that matches? Yes I know they will be huge. Thank you. Just as soon as you can get to them will work for me. :)
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 that is all doable. We can use any thread color you like. I will show you some blues that match and communicate as usual to let you pick the one you like best. I will get you a price quote tomorrow
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches no 2 total blanket.
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches Sounds great. Thank you.
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 do you want them quilted (would be similar to how the burp cloths I have listed are done as far as the two layers being sewn together, or just the decorative stitches around the edges?
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches I don’t want them cut and then sewn like a quilt but a decorative stitch throughout maybe nice. Is batting possible?
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches I like how you used the swirly decorative stitch on the quilt you sold for $225. Do you think a decorative stitch throughout would be too busy?
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches by the way I showed my husband this holiday blanket you are working on and he loved it too. We may just have to buy it when you finish it if you haven’t already sold it.
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 no. It wouldn’t be too busy, especially if you used white thread for the stitching throughout and then used the bolder color for the stitching around the edges. With white stitching it would more so add texture, but blue stitching on that swirly loop stitch would also look good, just depends on what you like.
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 I was able to order those fabrics. Assuming they don’t cancel on me 🤞. With those fabrics, will be $60 per blanket, so $120 total. I will keep you posted as far as when I get fabrics and when I am able to start working on it and update along the way.
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 it isn’t sold yet. I will update the pictures when it’s finished (probably shortly after I finish the five quilts I’m working on now) and you guys can let me know if it’s something you want.
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches white stitching throughout with the blue along the edge is a great idea. I like it. On the giraffe one lets just use all white thread.
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches we look forward to seeing the Fourth of July quilt done. How big will it be? Also did you see my question about batting? So glad you were able to order the fabrics. I thought they were so cute. Let’s hope they don’t cancel.
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 sorry. Just now saw the batting question. Batting is possible but would be hard to do batting without some sort of binding. I could do the binding in white so that the blue stitch still shows well if you want batting or could trim one side a little and and fold the other side over as binding.
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 I cut the Fourth of July quilt to start at 55”x66”, so first wash should shrink it down to a little over 50”x60”/a good size throw.
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches that is a good size. From the ones you have made us the best size is the space one at 52x63. So similar size. Let’s do no batting on this one. Just make it more simple.
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 ok good. Sounds like a plan. Without batting in the receiving blankets, I won’t be limited on how far apart the quilting can be. So, the quilting can be as dense (or not dense) as you want it to be.
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 For a receiving blanket, farther apart quilting may be a good option just because less quilting makes for a softer and more “flowy” quilt. You can check out some of the other things I’ve listed/sold to get an idea of what type quilting you want, but you have some time to decide. I will update you as things progress.
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches Sounds great. Do you have a visual of the different stitches you can do?
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 as far as machine decorative stitches, the last picture shows the stitch chart. There are a few in mode 2 that would work, but most of the stitches for something like this will be in mode three. 19 is the one in the $225 quilt you mentioned. I think I used 16 on the binding for your space quilt, 29 and one other for your niece’s Minnie quilt, and 22 to appliqué those big gingham squares on the July 4th quilt.
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches Great information. Will have to take time to look at the options. Thank you.
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches have you ever made a blanket with a hood?
Aug 26Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 I have never made a blanket with a hood, but it looks like something I could do.
Aug 26Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches hey can you order some of these fabrics and white minky? I would like to make a twin quilt and one standard shame for The baby and these fabrics will be perfect and I didn’t want them to sell out. 17404104 (plaid) and 16849903 (bear creak/ cabin print)
Aug 28Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 what style quilt as far as ragged edges or standard style and what pattern. I ask to be able to decide how much to get.
Aug 28Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches yeah sorry didn’t provide any context. Our daycare just closed. Let me get the baby and then I’ll give you some details. Thanks.
Aug 28Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches batting, normal binding, regular quilt not rag, pattern fabric, another fabric I haven’t decided on and minky on one side in squares. Plaid in squares on the other side. Standard size pillow case with the ruffles. Patterned fabric on one side, plaid on back. If possible some extra fabric for little matching stuffed animal blanket. Let me know if I left any details out for ordering the fabric.
Aug 28Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 ok. I had went ahead and ordered the green plaid, bear creek, and minky just because it’s hard to predict when they will be low in stock. It hasn’t been cancelled yet. Just let me know when you choose the third fabric for the multi fabric side. More coming...
Aug 28Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches As far as the plaid being in squares... if I’m reading it correctly that you only want that one print on the back side, with a now rag quilt, we can do it as large pieces (probably 2, maybe 3 large pieces) instead of squares, and it gives you less seams for a more continuous look. More coming...
Aug 28Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches Sorry last one was a typo. Should say non rag quilt. Now for the quilting. We can decide on that once I start working on it. But just for an FYI that you can choose what you want to do with it: stitches are not as obvious on minky because of the pile. More coming
Aug 28Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches So if you had the minky as squares on the front with flannel, it would look different on that compared to the flannel. Also, since it doesn’t really shrink, the crinkly quilt look will not have much affect on the minky part compared with the flannel. This works out fine for something like the puppy quilt we did, but would be different on a regular quilt. You may be more pleased with the results if you do the minky as backing and all flannels on the front, but I will let you decide.
Aug 28Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches I do have enough fabric to make the extra, but I’ve never actually made stuffed animals before. I can try it and see and won’t charge you for anything that doesn’t look nice.
Aug 28Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches all the info will take me some time to think through. Great advice about the plaid and minky. I meant to say stuffed animal quilt. Sorry I left out a work. Just miniature quilt. Hopefully I didn’t freak you out too much.
Aug 28Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 we’re good. And small quilt is definitely doable. One more bit of info that may help. If you want the minky backing but still want some white squares on the front, I have a lot of white flannel that I can use for that.
Aug 28Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches good to know. I think finding the third fabric will help me make decisions.
Aug 28Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches if you search leaf flannel on Joann fabric website it shows this project for big leaf may things. Could you make something like these?
Aug 28Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches ok I found two more fabrics to use. Can you order these? 16980740 fishing 16988180 birch trees
Aug 28Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 I put in an in store pickup order for the fishing fabric (not available online) so maybe they won’t cancel it. Birch trees are out of stock online and all stores somewhat close to here.
Aug 28Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 and yes can probably do the leaf thing.
Aug 28Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches thanks for checking. I didn’t even think to check that. Good thing I picked two fabrics :). Hopefully they have the one in stock.
Aug 28Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 for what it’s worth, I think the bears, fishing, plaid, and white flannel squares if you wanted to them would make a nice quilt front.
Aug 28Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches definitely a good idea. Let me think about it. Hopefully they don’t cancel the order.
Aug 29Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches well I know I have a lot of requests in. Don’t want to overwhelm you until your ready to do the projects but I know the fabrics can be hard to get. Thanks for ordering them all. Let me know when you are freed up.
Aug 29Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 yeah, it can be hard to get them sometimes, especially anything on sale or seasonal. After I finish the ones I have to ship out by October, I will let you know. Will probably finish that July 4th throw size quilt first since it’s almost finished and will let you know when I can get to each of the other projects. I will get you a price quote on the twin quilt/sham/mini quilt once we decide exactly what fabrics we want to use.
Aug 29Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches Sounds great. Thanks for the update.
Aug 29Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 I finished this one today! With that style quilt, most of the quilting is only seen on the back. I did add a star to all the big squares on the front to secure the batting. I tried to take pictures to show what all the quilting looks like. This one has a lot more sewing and cutting than a rag quilt so will be $175 if you still want it.
Sep 21Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches How big did it end up being?
Sep 21Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 just got it out of the dryer, and it’s 50”x62”.
Sep 21Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches Thank you for giving up the opportunity. It is really beautiful but I don’t think we are going to buy this one. I hope you aren’t upset.
Sep 21Reply
snugglestitches
snugglestitches @kaelamcguire21 nope I was already making it anyway so not a big deal at all.
Sep 21Reply
kaelamcguire21
kaelamcguire21 @snugglestitches Ok thank you so much! I just love your work.
