Q: I'll pick your brain a little! Lol I want to increase my Sales too so I'm trying to learn from lots of things I see. No doubt you closet it's Gorgeous😍💝so first I guess I'm interested in knowing how some people create listings for specific poshers like in a bundle? 😅🙈
karisrenee
Sure! @dottydaga Thank you for the kind words! Well, a few months ago, many poshers like me used to make individual listings for buyers to buy a "bundle". This would be a NEW listing (like posting a new item for sale) with a photo of each item requested and a discounted total (I personally liked to collage all the items together in 1 pic to save time). The buyer would then purchase THAT new listing, and with the shipping label that came in, I'd ship all the items in 1 box.
karisrenee
This is a major way that "bundling" helps people save on shipping (because the alternative was buying each item individually, which would carry an individual shipping cost for EACH item, no way!).
karisrenee
Now, however, there is the "add to bundle" feature, which makes EVERYONE'S lives much easier. This allows buyers to save their selection in what looks like an online shopping cart and purchase them all at once from the 1 seller as ONE transaction and ONE shipping cost. With this new feature, sellers like me no longer have to "make" people new bundle listings. Buyers can do it themselves!
karisrenee
Most sellers also offer a "bundle discount" (just as a little "thank you" for buying more than 1 item from our page). With the "add to bundle" button, you can now see the discount reflected there automatically without having to request, wait, and then buy a new bundle listing from your seller.
dottydaga
@karisrenee Giiiiiiiiirl!💕💕I absolutely LOVE💘that you took the time to create this listing to respond to questions, you're a true Mentor here to me now and I love that! 😍
dottydaga
@karisrenee Now I only wonder what happens if by a strange miracle , 2 people are interested in 1 same item. If it's been already put into one "bundle" would it give a warning to any one of them 2?
dottydaga
@karisrenee that for instance- member: 123456789 has already put this item in a bundle? Or perhaps what if the other user just goes ahead and makes an offer or even decides to just "buy now"? Is that another reason people would create a personalized listing that way you explained first? To sorta protect or put on hold for someone in particular?
karisrenee
Yes, that is exactly right @dottydaga! See, I actually don't do holds anymore (except for return customers occasionally) because when I DID do that manually, I'd hold the listing and mark "reserved" or "not for sale" in the title, and then the holder would flake out and not get it. All the while, poor little user 12345 has missed out on her item and maybe finds something else in the meantime. The good news about the bundle feature is that it takes the pressure off of you as a seller.
karisrenee
So, for example, I've had 3 people add the same 1 item to their bundles in the past 2 hrs. Nothing is set in stone until ONE of them actually buys it. Again, think online shopping cart. People will add things to the cart just to see the subtotal sometimes and still not buy. Some people use the bundle holding area as a space just like their "likes". It's just another place to see the items you want all in 1 space. But Everything is still up for grabs until someone clicks "buy".
karisrenee
And you as the seller do not have to moderate that and just watch the sales roll in. Adding an item to your bundle (just like adding it to your shopping cart on any other site) does not "reserve" the item for you from stock. If you hesitate, you may miss it.
Now, I personally would create personalized listings because I'll sell items in big quantities sometimes. (like I have a ring, but I bought 3 of the same one to posh). So instead of encouraging people to buy that listing,
karisrenee
I would ask them to "ask me for your own personalized listing if you want this". Because once that listing sold, I had to make a completely NEW one all over again, and all the people who had liked it originally would only see that their beloved item was "sold", therefore losing a potential sale. So, I wanted to keep the original listing open and available & just make the person a quick duplicate listing where I would not lose the following.
karisrenee
HOWEVERRRRRrrrrr thanks to poshmark's latest app updates, there is now a "quantity" feature on each listing where I can say "I have 3 of this same ring", and when someone clicks "buy now" on that ring, it will automatically duplicate that listing (on its own) AND the sold sign goes on the NEW duplicate listing and not my original, keeping that original one open for the likers to keep and come back to.
karisrenee
This also allows you to track your # of available items (which is a big deal to people selling LOTS of items like t-shirts where you've got 2 size s tops, 1 size L, etc). This would also be affected by bundles (when someone bundles and buys 2 of your items, BOTH of those listings will say SOLD on them). So, that's another reason I avoided that. I'd be thinking "noo, but I have more!!!!" lol
karisrenee
So, now, all I have to do is make sure my quantities are correct, and i can just allow people to buy as normal & bundle as normal. Saves everyone lots of time! (there's nothing like moving too slow to create a bundle for someone and in the meantime, someone ELSE buys one of the items requested. Cuz then it's your fault, and who do you give it to?)
Sorry for the novel Just wanted you to see the big picture love :)
karisrenee
But, I had to learn not to get too excited about seeing that someone "added your item to a bundle". Because that doesn't always mean that they will buy it. It's just a littttle bit more serious than someone "liking" it~ (which we all know is just like window shopping). lol
dottydaga
@karisrenee, you're My absolute Poshmark GODDESS 💘💘💘lol, not but seriously. I've learned so much from this you have no idea!!!💋💋💋, I'm actually gonna be coming back here to read again and process it better. Lol (shhh I'm at work) lol

poshgarden
I just saw that you are in the DFW area too. What city are you in?
rd1001
I noticed you are hosting tonight's party. How can one become a host for one of the posh parties? Thanks so much!
gems1955
It takes a special person to do the Q & A forum, you're are the real deal 🌷🌷💕🎉😘
gems1955
Side bar; should say you're the real deal😊
karisrenee
@poshgarden I'm in Dallas! We should do a posh party meet up sometime❤❤
karisrenee
Q: how to host a party
A: hi there @rd1001! Typically, they come to you with the offer to host a party, but ever since the app has been growing with more and more users, they now have an option in place where you can email: hosting@poshmark.com to be added to a waiting list for consideration to host an upcoming party. This is great because they also now allow users to host daytime parties and nighttime parties.
karisrenee
(It used to just be night, but if you're willing to start out by hosting a daytime party, you have a better chance of doing it sooner then later.) So, shoot them an email, tell them why you think you would be a good host, and make sure you include your username so they can check out your page. They'll review your information, add you to the list, and then let you know once they have a slot available for you!
karisrenee
You will want to make sure that all of your listings are Poshmark compliant and follow all the rules, as they look closely at your items in the consideration process.
yaskween
Hi Karis!! I'll be hosting my first posh party on 5/23🎉👑✨ I'm sooo excited (and so nervous! 🙊) I was wondering if you could share any tips & tricks that you've learned firsthand to help me run the party smoothly?
karisrenee
@gems1955 ❤❤aww thank you girl! I just realized that I was answering questions all over on different peoples pages whenever they asked, but sometimes they'd ask the same thing! So here, I've got a place where everyone can find help and maybe save some time! LOL I'm also launching a Blog here in a couple of weeks that I think would be really helpful, so stay tuned and I'll share all the details with my follower friends😘
karisrenee
@yaskween
poshgarden
Yes, what part of Dallas are you in?
karisrenee
@poshgarden oh duh! LOL I'm in uptown📍
poshgarden
Did you know Olga, Lori & Sandra are planning another meet up this year? It's in FTW around the Fall. Did you go to last years?
karisrenee
no, I didn't, but I would totally go to this one if I can! Please tag me if there's a listing or anything up about it :)))) @poshgarden
poshgarden
@partymk999👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼😘
karisrenee
Q: how to run a smooth posh party
A: Sure @yaskween! Well, before you even pick all your HP's, I recommend following Poshmark on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook so you can see (& help build) the buzz! (they're Very social media friendly!)
You can promote your party on social media tagging poshmark and invite your friends!
Share a beautiful listing from your closet on Instagram, tweet the link to your party, or include it in a blog post. Be creative and have FUN!
karisrenee
Review the Host Guide & Posh Party FAQs (which they send you via email once you're confirmed) for detailed tips and tricks. (Insider Tip to save time: prior to your party, “like” any listings that you want to share and when the party begins open up “My Likes” and share directly from there to the party”).
This all applies to both daytime and nighttime parties since people can now host both and give HP's :)
karisrenee
Remember
All parties are in real-time and the popular evening ones go from 7-9pm PST
They asked me to share 75-200 listings to the party both from others’ closets as well as my own (but I tried to focus on sharing everyone else and not myself so much- cuz then you're the girl who gave HERSELF 100 Host Picks... lol do not be that girl. People will know).
karisrenee
If you do share any of your own- don't do more than 5. After that, it gets obvious lol
The more variety of closets, sizes, styles etc. that you can share the better! :-)
karisrenee
***All you have to do the night of the party is open up the app when the party begins, and share to the party. Anything you share as a host will automatically go into the Host Picks Showroom.
karisrenee
My big tip is to pick a fun tagline (pretend you're a real housewife of poshmark!) and copy/paste it to each listing that you share as HP for the party. This is a great way to Notify your users "hey, I picked this as a HP tonight because think it's great". That way, they know where all the congratulatory comments are coming from. Plus, most users are so kind and thankful, that they will SHARE several of your items back!
karisrenee
(also, I recommend in your party announcement listing to note that users Please Do Not tag you in their individual closets asking for HP's. Ask them to just include their info in your listing once so you can check them out. Because some users will tag you 20+ times asking "can you make this a HP? can you make this a HP? can you make this a HP?", and it will screw up your newsfeed.
karisrenee
I had to block someone the other night who literally tagged me in EVERY listing on her page begging for a HP. And that was AFTER I already asked for people to not do it lol I eventually unblocked, but I didn't have tim during the party to ask her to stop, so don't be afraid to use the block button if you must!)
karisrenee
Pour yourself a glass of wine, turn up the Beyonce, and share share share no mater what!

This is great!!! ❤️ Thanks so much for your help.. I'm going to read up on all the info you have provided 👀📝📈📂
bluechandelier
Here's a {maybe silly} question! How the heck do sellers get their descriptions to center perfectly on the page? Whenever I try to space over, it never lines up right! Or to start a new paragraph etc. makes me crazy 😭
karisrenee
hmm! @bluechandelier let me think on that one. I don't think that mine are centered at all lol I don't intentionally do that style, so you might be better off asking someone who does so that? But I know that there are different settings for different devices. So- some androids will allow you to start a new paragraph right in the description VS iphones will not, and hitting that return/enter button will close the editing field. Here's my recommendation:
karisrenee
Open up your notes app, type out your desc however you like (new paragraphs and all), then copy/paste directly into the desc field! This should retain the unique formatting and separate lines.
karisrenee
If you want to take this a step further, you couuuuuld try typing the descriptions in like email or word or something, center it there, then try copy/pasting into the desc. (but that is a lot more work than I'd be willing to do ever lol)
karisrenee
Remember, though- no one is going to BUY your item because your text is cute. The key to a good sale is that cover photo baby! I'd recommend spending your time perfecting that as your #1 priority vs text. No closet is just cute to be cute. The best looking closets are also making moneyyyy hunty!
karisrenee
So give it a try and see what you get! I copy/paste all the time in my descriptions because sometimes if I lose service, I'm SCARED that I'll lose all the work, so I'll use my notes app first THEN paste to posh!
(but don't forget! Each device is different. So it might look Perfect on your phone, but then 50 shades of jacked up on my phone or computes, so don't count too heavily on how the text "looks".
Great question! Never heard that one before xoxo
karisrenee
@marhart just in case! xo
bluechandelier
That's a great suggestion to use my notes app! I didn't even think of that. And I totally agree- it's all about the cover shot! My closet has really taken off but I'm always trying to improve my listings and sales! That's what it's all about. I appreciate the time you took to respond to my post. Happy Poshing! 😊
dottydaga
hey @karisrenee how r you girl?? I have a question you know it's so weird it just happened to me someone that shared my stuff I wanted to return the shares and it showed I couldn't Bc that user has !blocked me!??😳 not sure why? Then I tried to comment asking about it and the system again says I can't comment since I'm blocked!??
dottydaga
@karisrenee I even took screen shots Bc it's so weird. I don't even know who this person is 😟but she/he had already shared my stuff I jut wanted to return the shares... So weird , have any idea why? 🙁
karisrenee
Omg @dottydaga well let me tell you something... That exact thing has happened to me, and I NEVER found out why. I have screenshots too!!! The thing that's made it sO odd is that I only found out because of returning the shares FROM her! And that was over a year ago, and guess what.... She. Still. Shares. My. Items. 😧😧😧so confusing! And we never even interacted before that!
karisrenee
I even made a posting with her info on it, hoping she or a mutual friend would see it- but I don't think she ever noticed it. She didn't even get a notification from me cuz I was Blocked❌ lol so listen all I can do to help, sweetie, is tell you that the exact same thing has happened to me before, it was super mysterious, and I STILL have no idea why!🙈🙈.
karisrenee
Kind of hurt my feelings, but then when I realized that she would never see my message, I just let it go and had to get over it🙈 your Best chance at finding out WHY (or if it's just some glitch) would be to have a friend message her on her page and maybe ask why.... but that could be a lot of awkwardness, and just in case there is some unknown issue, you'd run the risk of your friend being blocked too. Just so much effort for something that's not that important I'm the grand scheme of things✨✨
karisrenee
@dottydaga and I literally never heard of anyone who's had the same issue! Haha you are making me feel better just knowing that it happens to anyone. I suspect it's at glitch in the coding! But to even have it investigated, you'd have to verify that the other person did not , in fact, intentionally block you. and since you can't communicate.... It's very difficult!
dottydaga
@karisrenee hahaha omg!!! It's hilarious how odd it is that I had actually happened to you too!?? What are he odds? 😂😝lol. Anyway. I'm glad you at least put me at easy. I wasn't sure if it was a scamming thing or what?
dottydaga
@karisrenee I see that the person has followers and follows and has listed things too so awkward tho right?? I was just trying to return the shares too and that how I found out lol 😱😅😅
dottydaga
@karisrenee anyway how is it that you block someone anyway?? Haha I don't see that option anywhere 🤔😑
dottydaga
@karisrenee lol it's so true. We're not alone in the world haha. It must be a glitch like you said then. Funny is that I also had taken screen shots Hahha but I honestly don't have a good reason why would they block me given I don't even know them so has to be a glitch lololol
yaskween
Thank you SO much for all of the tips, I really appreciate it❣ I can't wait until Monday night, it's coming up so soon! I hope you'll join me🙊 I will definitely be turning up to Beyoncé 💃🏻
karisrenee
Girl @yaskween I will be there supporting & sipping on my lemonade boo! 🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋 Xo
karisrenee
Right?!?! @kanderss I decided to tag you here instead of continuing the conversation on the other page because I have a sneaking suspicion that when we comment on those posts, that it makes our Pages more visible and might lead to even more spam. I literally got one spam message like that late last week, but then this week I've already had at least 30 or 40 just since this morning.
karisrenee
I know everyone wants to go off on them because it's so disgusting, but the fact is, these are not even multiple people or the actual girls in the photos. This is some hacker spammer crap where are they Google like "trashy girls" or something, and just create all these bs accounts & ruin our pages. I really really really hope that Poshmark enables an option for us to delete comments because even if these fake accounts to get deleted, this stupid little message is still on all of our listings!
karisrenee
My overall recommendation for all the spam that has been going on today:
block all of them and avoid commenting!!
It's not a real person, she's not reading your comments and feeling badly. No one actually cares about what you post because it's not even the girl in the photos that you're talking to. This is a coordinated effort. There's no other explanation for so many accounts posting in so many pages SIMULTANEOUSLY.
karisrenee
The absolute Max that you should comment should be "@manish @pm_editor". Hopefully, if they get enough of those tags consistently, they will know exactly which accounts to deactivate. Unfortunately, this will not remove the original spam comments from your page, so keep your eyes open and block these people as soon as you get a comment. I wasn't fast enough in blocking (was out at lunch), and the same users did comment several times on my other listings as a result.
karisrenee
BLOCK #1 & avoid reprimanding them, as they may try to use your info against you further.
REPORT them using the tiny 3 dots on the top right of their pages. Feel free to do this several times.
IGNORE them. Do not seek these people out. Again, they're not reading comments, and they're not going to stop just because you told them to stop.
karisrenee
OMG and most importantly- DO NOT follow any links that they give you. This is a method to capture your personal info & possibly lead to identity theft. That is the goal. If they get even 1 of us, then it is worth it.
crazyhotcatlady
That's a good idea. It's so gross, I had at least 100 today. I'm afraid to add any new users now. I'm usually really good at that and I did it this morning and got blasted!
karisrenee
Q: Poshmark Ettiquette
A: @anneliselynn sure! Overall, I'll start by saying just conduct yourself the way you would in a store. Each page/closet is someone's own store, and we take pride in our listings.
Here are a few I live by:
karisrenee
-Never advertise in someone else's closet that you have the same item for less. Unless you're being a kind advocate saying, "I have this same sweater and wear it everyday! Anyone who buys this will LOVE how it's XYZ (positive)"- then don't say anything unless you want to buy it. Listings are for interested buyers in THAT item only.
karisrenee
-Never comment on someone's listing saying that you found the same item for less at a store. You have no idea how much that posher pad for that item. And if you saw it elsewhere for less- then go get it there. Mentioning this publicly for all the viewers to see is just tacky, and you look like a hater. Unless the seller has said that she will match any price (which I've literally NEVER seen), then keep it to yourself. If someone is willing to pay that price, never interrupt a clean sale.
karisrenee
-About Offers: Most closets LOVE offers, but do not lowball. Everyone's definition of "lowballing" is different, but if a dress is listed at $50 and the retail price is $240, then offering $5 is lowballing (and super disappointing for a seller who sees "yay I got an offer!" and then... "oh, I won't even make my money back with that". I define lowballing as offering less than 50% of the listed price. 99% of users will ignore offers made that low...
karisrenee
cont. This is what I do when I want to make an offer on an item too pricey to buy at the current price: I figure out what 1/2 price would be, and if I can't afford to go above that- I can't afford it. All prices are carefully thought out, and while some are flexible- they will likely never go so low as 50% off. But at least offering over 50% will get you a reasonable counter offer.
karisrenee
(FYI some sellers go so far as to BLOCK people who offer less than half because it makes you look not serous about the purchase and you don't respect the work put into posting the item in the 1st place. I don't. But many do out of frustration). Let's be real- no one wants to deal with the girl shopping in Chanel with a Walmart budget. (And I LIVE for Walmart, hunty, but I gotta know what kind of store I'm in by seeing the pricing & behave accordingly).
karisrenee
At worst, you should comment that you're interested and ask if they're flexible on price! Let them know- "I'm about to make an offer, so please counter with your lowest if possible. thanks!". Which leads me to my next point...
karisrenee
-Never just comment "lowest?" or "what's your lowest you'd go on this price?". Sellers do not want to discuss price publicly in the comments. This will affect ALL FUTURE interested buyers because instead of just buying the item (when they can afford the price), they will ask the seller for the lowered price "like you did for so and so above".
karisrenee
This is a bummer because your comment convo may have essentially reduced the "value" of the item since your negotiation was public. Private negotiations are handled using the "make an offer" feature/button. I highly recommend it!!
thriftychicla
@aeloftin
hazelandhope
I just wanted to say thank you for doing this for all us newbies and that I love your closet!
karisrenee
aww! @valhobbsI so glad it's helpful and not annoying lol Thank you so much for the kind words! 😍😍😍!😍😍😍!😍😍😍!😍😍😍
hazelandhope
Not at all! I just got on PM to buy a pair of shoes and now I am so hopelessly addicted it's not even funny! Getting started has a huge learning curve so saying thank you seems so small. BTW, I got hit with a huge amount of spam within days of posting in my closet. I reported each one to PM and then followed up with an email requesting the comments be removed. They are all gone now. When you work so hard to develop an awesome closet its nice to keep the listings professional. Cheers!
karisrenee
aww bless your heart! I'm sorry you had to go through that, but FYI @valhobbs just so you know- that is not a regular thing here. That was the 1st time that a spam program has really hit PM like that, and I had it on over 100 of my listings. It was some greedy messy little hacker, but it was taken care of.
karisrenee
We had never seen anything like it before, so I feel so bad that such a nice newbie had to deal with that so early on, but rest assured- it is not a regular thing, and it sounds like you handled it perfectly! xo
thriftychicla
@quinn72915 Great advice...read comments as well. Plus, @karisrenee has a great closest, so check it out while you are here! :)
dottydaga
Hi @karisrenee !! I actually went ahead and read the comments before asking my question and sure it was there the topic of my question sorta answered lol!! Well actually I just kinda wanna mention how uncomfortable it is to have an offer and it's so low it doesn't make sense it makes you feel kinda bad. After trying to work it out finally declined.
dottydaga
@karisrenee I wouldn't even had made my $$ back at all! 😞 so anyway. I still have to figure or where you block anyone. But yeah that's pending for me now I read some 3 dots on top of the page? I'll look into it too!
dottydaga
BTW you're so knowledgeable I love this Q&A listing so much!! Lol. Xoxo!
karisrenee
@dottydaga lol omg so glad that it's helpful and not just lengthy! Yes, look for those three little dots for the block feature. When people make really low offers that really don't make any sense, it's totally up to you whether or not you want to engage via the comments to explain why or why not you can't accept the offer. But definitely don't feel pressured. I used
karisrenee
to do it every time. I'd reach out and say thanks so much for your offer, but I paid this much and I'm really just trying to get my money back, so that's why I had to decline. But now, I don't really have the time to do that anymore to be honest! Instead, I just counter with the current price if my price is firm. This is an universal language that everyone understands.
karisrenee
If your haggling a flea market, and you offer $5 for an item that cost 10 and the person says 10 is their best offer, you're not going to blow them up asking for six seven eight or nine. Countering with your current price is a clean way of stating that your price is firm. But offering is simply that. Offering. Not a demand that you are required to accept.
karisrenee
And btw most people aren't going to blow up your comments asking you why you didn't accept their offer. I absolutely refuse to discuss negotiations for pricing in the comments section. If someone is going to be bold enough to call me out on not accepting their offer, they're typically really rude about it, and that gets you a personal invitation to my block party. But that's very rare!
karisrenee
And if someone ever does that to you, you can just reply and say something like "sorry @username I countered with my lowest price, and if that doesn't fit your budget, I totally understand and wish you luck in finding what you're looking for!". Then block till your heart's content lol
It's all up to your discretion.
karisrenee
That's why I enjoy this platform. It's like owning your own store, and only you can decide if you think someone's going to be hostile or not. I like to avoid conflict of any sort, so I block people in advance if I think they're going to pop off on my listing. No little sale is worth some petty back and forth👍
dottydaga
@karisrenee I totally agree with you 💯‼you're absolutely right! It's common sense for the most part and some people lack that too 😏anyway I do read it all just to get an idea of other topics people might be discussing here and it all helps 🙋🏻💕Thank you once again Yoda Master of Poshers hehe🙏🏼😅😍

Q - What is your opinion/advice on a buyer who asks you to wave shipping? I had a potential buyer ask me if I would wave shipping on a bundle. I replied in a comment (kinda regret doing since it's public, but I can't remove it now) that I could price adjust to offset shipping. I offer a bundle discount of 20% off 2+ items.
karisrenee
@amburkhardt mmmmmmm yes, the shipping discount is always a tough one because it wasn't that long ago that Poshmark raised the shipping price on all of us, and we all tried to make a little wiggle room for our buyers to help offset the increased price.
karisrenee
I personally don't recommend making price exceptions like that unless it's for returning customers, in which case I like to reward the loyalty and offer a little thank you for coming back to my kloset. The fact is, you are not even required to offer a bundle discount, and yours is quite generous!. Honestly, a bundle discount is not really common anywhere else BUT poshmark.
karisrenee
You can't go into a store and ask them to give you a discount on your purchase just because you're buying more than one thing lol I wish! Unfortunately, I think that people take the bundle discount for granted, and still want additional savings even though you're already offering an extra perk!
karisrenee
My advice, girlfriend is that if you already have it built into your pricing structure and can afford to additionally knocking off $5 from an already discounted bundle (which might include items that were already previously discounted btw!), then more power to you & you keep doing it and use it as a tool to increase sales! But if you're not comfortable with doing that,
threadmetrics
I was really unsure how to handle the request, and replied the best I could. If a seller does agree to "free" shipping, what's the best way to do this?
karisrenee
which I highly doubt based on how great your prices already are, I would respectfully Decline and just let your customers know like, "sorry! I really wish I could, but these items are already steeply discounted, and I cannot control the price of shipping. If I could ship this for your for free, I totally would! but Poshmark shipping prices are set by the pm team, and I am firm on this already discounted price.
karisrenee
I hope my x% bundle discount helps you fit this into your budget!" Of course, they're not asking you to go in and remove the shipping cost, but they want you to change the price to make it as if that was the case, and you really don't have to. It's all in the delivery, and a $5 is really going to make that big of a difference to a buyer, they can't afford to be shopping in your closet anyway.
karisrenee
FYI Just added an example of how creative some of the trolling is. There are clever general statements that these users will post that make it seem like they're interested in your item. They typically ARE NOT. This is a ploy to get your email address or other personal info. Do not give out any personal contact details to strangers ❌danger ❌
karisrenee
if you see any version of "hey I'm interested in your item but have a few more questions...can you email me at xyz for more info?" Don't. You can share anything on poshmark. You need to show them more than the max allowed 4 pictures for each listing? Create a new listing titled "addtl pics" marked as "not for sale" and tag them there. All questions can be addressed in the comments.
karisrenee
If anyone makes you uncomfortable or you see a comment like this on a listing that is not even applicable (like a "chat" listing or a post for "addtl pictures", anything that does not fit the story/question the person is asking: then report them, block them, and go to their page to see of they have any real posts, sales, or comments from other people like you who have told them to stop.
karisrenee
@chicdutchess just added a post/pic that might be helpful. You've probably already seen things like this before but I thought I'd share some things to look out for in comments😘
karisrenee
Hey boo @dottydaga @yaskween FYI just added a post/pic here that might be helpful in the future. You've probably already seen things like this before, but I thought I'd share some things to look out for in comments to avoid issues😘
yaskween
Thanks for the heads up!
sinnersorsaints
@karisrenee thank you! Very much appreciated 😚
dottydaga
@karisrenee wow! Hey thank you my dear!! I would find it suspicious too for sure! Thanks for looking out for us 🌸🌸
svgrace
First, I love your closet! You take time to present each listing perfectly! Anyway, here's my question (and thanks for doing this): I sold a beautiful top. Buyer never asked any questions, just purchased it.
svgrace
She then rated me 1 * saying it was too small! Well, she never asked me to measure it! I would have totally provided a flat armpit to armpit etc. Anyway, this is the SECOND time that's happened and it's hurting my ratings! How can I get this corrected? I always note if the items isn't true to size Thank you for taking the time.
karisrenee
of course! and Thank YOU for the kind words @svgrace 🌸🌸🌸🌸 1st of all, this happens ALL the time to various poshers, and it is a huge bummer, but do not let it get to you. #1) fit issues are never your responsibility- when you shop online, it's up to the buyer to decide responsibly if the item is worth the risk of purchasing, knowing that trying it on is not an option.
karisrenee
The problem is- we sellers take ratings VERY personally because the rating is "overall": You may have actually deserved a 5 star rating for your part of customer service, but the buyer may truly think that the top deserved a 1 star (which is ridiculous because she's the one who bought it lol). Occasionally, this can happen too if perhaps the photos were beautiful but the buyer thinks that the "quality" of your item is low grade.
karisrenee
SO many factors go into an item rating. It sometimes stinks because the fact is- the item is STILL going to look the same on her as it did in your pics :) But as a "selective" or "picky" buyer, people want to make sure their voice is heard.
karisrenee
I can't emphasize the following enough: Your goal is to make a sale.
karisrenee
If you are honest and clear, you will close several successful sales- no problem. The ratings that you receive are juuuuuuust a tool for you as a seller to use to see what your buyers thought. People rate things improperly ALL the time. Your case is a perfect example of that. "I'm too big for this sweater" is a personal problem honey lol that's not your fault as a seller, especially for a buyer who asked no questions beforehand.
karisrenee
(And let me tell ya- some buyers will even ask for measurements and STILL rate it badly, saying it's too small because they won't measure themselves correctly!) You can do everything right and still get 1 star, but remember that it's not on you if the fault is with a buyer like yours. Don't fret! Poshmark has your back.
karisrenee
This is why NO ONE else sees your seller rating. That rating is for your eyes only. (I personally will forever have a 4.9 because of buyers who rate improperly lol) I have received lower ratings just for "other" and then the comment was "just didn't like it on" 😏😏😏 omg drives a girl nuts! haha But the only review that people will see publicly are the "love notes" that people leave alongside 5 star ratings.
karisrenee
You are protected. You could even have an average 3 star rating and have the chic-est closet on the internet!
Your goal is to make a sale, girl. If you got a bad rating, you have to brush it off (if the error is not on you) and move on because you still reached your goal! That rating (good or bad) means that your sale is complete and you got your earnings.
karisrenee
"Complain about what you want (if it wasn't my fault)- I got my coins, and that's what I'm here for". sometimes, that's the attitude that I have to adopt for users who abuse the rating system. But just rest assured- it happens. to everyone. I even had a gal rate 5 stars one day then about 2 weeks later- came back & changed the beautiful review to 1 star because she broke the item while wearing it several times and wanted to blame me for "bad quality"
karisrenee
haha it sounds silly, but crazy things like that DO happen, so you have to just keep your head up babe and roll with it. You made your sale. On to the next :) Learn what you can and do better (if even possible) for the next sale, and watch that rating average go up! xo
karisrenee
sooooo @dottydaga Just wanted to post an update to your question about finding unexpected blocking. I noticed something that I do that may affect this and possibly put someone in your shoes- blocked with no explanation why.
karisrenee
When I browse listings that I'm interested in & notice that someone has been really rude to a seller in the comments, or they've repeatedly offered and then asked to cancel, or they advertise their own or outside sites for lower prices on another girl's page, or they break major posh compliance rules like selling unapproved dirty undies or directing people off the posh platform- I BLOCK them with no question. 😂😂
karisrenee
May sound shady, but the fact is- if that person will disrespect 1 seller, they will do it to me too, and I'd rather pre-block them vs. wait till they make their way to my page. (I of course doubt that you are guilty of doing ANYTHING like this to someone else of course!)) but I know that when I see it- I block it.
karisrenee
And that posher may turn out to be AMAZING down the road once they've learned...but I'm not risking my frustration while they do lol I block people who I see with my own eyes have been negative to others to stop the cycle. This could result in:
karisrenee
(A) them trying to be rude on my listings and realizing they're pre-blocked or (B) them having genuine interest in my listings and not being able to buy or comment because they're blocked. Just FYI this is probably not what happened to you at ALL, but I'm sure that I'm not the only person who pre-blocks, so people should be aware that it does happen.
dottydaga
@karisrenee LOL Karis not too long ago I found myself already pre-blocking for the same reasons you have already mentioned here!! Haha it's true I can see that for sure. However who knows how in the world some one ends up blocking you. I've realized sometime my hand presses the top corner of someone's closet .. Then I might see how someone gets blocked without even meaning to do so in 1st place lol
karisrenee
Q: LOST PACKAGES (if USPS lost my package or tracking activity has not been updated for several days, and order has not been confirmed as delivered with the tracking number- what do I do?)
karisrenee
A: well, SPOILER ALERT! If the error is due to USPS, you will both (buyer AND seller) get your money, as you both did everything right. So, don't wait by the door every day to see if it arrives. You will need to give it several days just to see if it shows up late. If your package has not been delivered, and tracking activity has stopped for at least 3 to 5 days beyond the anticipated delivery date, then have the seller reach out to support @ Poshmark dot com.
karisrenee
Try to find your shipping notification email, and forward that to the support team, letting them know that your package has not arrived after several days, and that you'd like your refund and for the order to be canceled. You paid for an item AND 2 to 3 day shipping, so if it goes several days beyond that with nada, you are entitled to a refund. Now, if you do this to you soon a.k.a. emailing them on the third or fourth the day, then
karisrenee
they are going to ask you to wait several days & to email them again if your package has not arrived within approximately 7 days of your original message. (I personally find this pretty frustrating, so I wait about a week to see if it shows up late before reaching out to the support team. They won't actually take any action until several days have gone noticeably far beyond the anticipated delivery date) they do this because most times, the package WILL
karisrenee
show up later on, as it may have just been a lost in the delivery truck or underneath another package at the post office. Just because it's late doesn't mean that it won't show up, so there is still hope! 🚐💨📦
If you feel that hope is gone, however, and it's been like 3-5 days after the anticipated delivery date (2 to 3 days after your package was confirmed shipped), then you as the buyer should contact poshMark support.
karisrenee
If you are the seller and you noticed this on one of your transactions, have your buyer contact Poshmark support.
Here's why:
I've actually seen this happen before, and after seeing it both ways (with communication initiated by the buyer versus seller), it sounds like the most efficient way is actually for the buyer to reach out to support first, as poshmark will cancel the order and give both sides their earnings immediately.
karisrenee
Versus if the seller reaches out first, they just pay the seller 1st and then wait for the buyer to reach out after several MORE days, ✨confirming✨ that the package has indeed not arrived, and thennnn they provide the refund to that side. (Either way, both sides get paid if the error is on part of the Postal Service) But if the buyer initiates the communication, both sides are likely to get their money back faster AND at the same time.
karisrenee
This process can also be sped up if you've waited even longer to reach out to them to (seeing if the package would show up on its own). As always, poshmark support will give you instructions on what to do next, but in terms of being proactive about it, I recommend having the buyer reach out first to make sure everyone gets paid at the same time without any delay. It's no one's fault if someone else loses your package and it's clearly documented within the tracking information!
karisrenee
Here ya go @smclaughlin11 :) Lots of info!! But above I've included some posh etiquette tips and tricks and plenty of other stuff to peek through from time to time! xo
only1niknik1
@karisrenee First off let me say your store is goals. It is so beautiful and inspiring. I'm sort of new to poshmark how do you use the feature when you have more than one of the same item?
karisrenee
Here you go! @queenfr0stine
karisrenee
@only1niknik1 aww thank you so so much! Well that feature is very simple once you get the hang of it! 1st of all, make sure your app is up to date with the app store. When you create a new listing, there is an option beneath the description. There's a field for "category" then "quantity". This is where you can enter the # of items you have and sizing (like 2xs, 2s, 4xl, etc).
karisrenee
When you finish entering the rest of your info and publish your new listing, you'll notice that when someone buys one of the items, this master listing will not change. A duplicate listing will be created, and that NEW listing will contain the "sold" Banner. This means that every buyer will have their very own listing, which is duplicated from this original listing at the point of purchase.
karisrenee
This will continue until the number of stock items you've entered has run out, at which point, a "sold-out" banner will be shown on this master listing, and it can no longer be edited. You can also track how many items you have left by opening the edit option for your listing. It will show you how many you sold and how many you still have available for sale in that same "quantity" field were you entered your numbers at the beginning.
only1niknik1
@karisrenee thanks sweetheart for explaining all that to me because it can be so confusing that really helped :-)
karisrenee
@only1niknik1 anytime! 😘😘😘😘 You come back anytime you have a question, and I'll try to help!
ledebut
@karisrenee did you create covershot yourself or did you use an app?
karisrenee
@rainnfox hey boo! I actually did this one myself in Photoshop! But I do graphic design as a really big part of my job, so I use programs like that almost every day
ledebut
@karisrenee I have some personal & professional questions to ask you in building my poshmark closet. I did purchase one of those fur rugs from Home Goods 👍🏽 to take quality shots this weekend but I have like 10 questions and I don't want to bombard your listing. Your closet is such an inspiration to me that I can do this too.
kanderson315
Do you know anything about hosting a party?
karisrenee
Sure @kanderson315 Please check out the comments above where I addressed this (Q: how to host a party) on May 19 06:19AM 😘😘😘😘
ladie_glam
You have really nice quality photos. Can you give me any advice or suggestions on how to make professional looking photos?
karisrenee
@ladie_glam Awww thank you so much! Sure! I will tag you in a listing that I made with ideas
pixielated
@karisrenee hi! I just want to say that this Q&A has been extremely helpful and thank you for taking time out to provide all this info.
karisrenee
Aww @pixielated thanks for being so sweet and letting me know!!!! Glad to help!
storyoferica
@karisrenee hi doll! This is a genius post! I was wondering what brands sell best for you? I only started Poshmark a few months ago and have had a few sales but I would love some tips on the most popular brands! Love your closet btw! Thanks so much! 😘
zezena
Thank you for posting the explanation on "bundles". I was not sure what to do when I would see - "Customer A added item to a bundle" - I kept asking myself, "am I suppose to do something with this item?" I didn't know what to do. But with your explanation, I now know that I (the seller) can sit back and wait for Customer A to finish adding to her bundle and purchase :).
karisrenee
Thanks! @ericagaitan top selling brands are PINK by VS, Nike hands down, and then maybe Jcrew and Anthro from what I've seen! Posh actually does a monthly trend report, and that will be perfect for you (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CercnHhF72k) you can find them on youtube & subscribe for updates! xo
karisrenee
LOL well im so glad it helped!! @zezena just sit back with your cocktail and wait for a sale hehe SO glad that you won't be stressed out waiting! xo
kkyoot
@karisrenee Thank you so much for this. You've clarified a lot of things for me and @shannonjc
skutchesm
@karisrenee
Thank you for this informative thread! 💕
I have 3 questions:
1. Do you think it is ok to talk price in the comments when you are negotiating a special bundle for someone?
2. How do you become a Suggested User?
3. Is there any way to change the name of your closet? I never thought I would get so into Posh, and didn't give mine any thought at the time.
THANK YOU MUCH!💕💕💕💕🎀
karisrenee
Hi hon! @skutchesm Great questions! Here's my opinion:
(1) Regarding discussing pricing in the comments for bundles or negotiations or offers- I personally like to avoid this because sometimes things change! I might be very excited to sell an item the first time and offer someone a lowered the price on that item, but then several weeks later... my finances may have changed! And I really need to get full price for that item.
karisrenee
Or sometimes, I offer a lower discount for return customers! Whatever the reason, any new customer will see your previous conversation in the comments above and expect to receive the same treatment. Discussing pricing in the comments, to me, is like having an interested buyer who's about to pay full price, and then they see, "oh wait! She might take less!" That's a missed opportunity for a full price sale in my opinion.
karisrenee
Specifically regarding pricing for bundles, I also avoid discussing this in the comment section. I would rather make you a customized listing for your bundle to discuss pricing, questions, and details there individually than do it all in the comment section for one item. This is actually the main reason why I use the bundle discount feature as a seller. Even though I'd really like to get full price for most of my items,
karisrenee
I'd rather be able to simply say that I offer a built-in bundle discount that you can find applied at check out if you simply use the add to bundle feature. I would much rather do that and let the customer decide for themselves if it works for their budget in their own time than give them a full breakdown and discounts in the commentary. It's also a timesaver!
karisrenee
Plus, there have been some items where I've been more comfortable with giving a big discount (like trying to sell an older item) vs others (that night be brand new) where I really want to get full price. Instead of offering different discounts for each item (which can cause issues with customers), I just picked a general automatic discount within the app which now helps me avoid having to explain all those details.
karisrenee
In my opinion, no one needs to see advertised The lowest price that you've ever sold that item for. If you comment back to a buyer that your lowest price for an item is $20, for example, you might as well just change that price! Lol because another buyer will come along, see that your item is listed at 30, and ask you to discount to 20 for them just like you did for the other person. You could have made $10 more!
karisrenee
And like one time, I had a bride to be who wanted a necklace & I really wanted to give her an extra discount off! If I'd have discussed that publicly in the comments, I feel like someone would have tried the same story to get the same discount or just expected the same treatment like "please honor the price you listed above"... then I'd be looking dumb and unfair 😑
karisrenee
You can't delete comments here, so anything you say might as well be part of the permanent listing & that can be a slippery slope when it comes to pricing! You can always increase or decrease the price of the listing, but you cannot edit or remove a comment 🎀🎀
karisrenee
(2) becoming a suggested user
This is more about Poshmark finding you, monitoring you and your activity, and then reaching out to you after noticing that you've done such a stellar job as both a buyer and a seller on the platform. The process for becoming a suggested user is actually quite involved on their end, so there's no step-by-step guide to attaining that status.
karisrenee
The best advice I could give is just to tell you what they look for and to make sure that you meet those criteria before reaching out to them. Make sure that all of your items in your closet are compliant within the Poshmark rules and regulations of the app. No trading, no knockoffs, no off app transactions. No, trading is not technically breaking the rules to where your account could be in jeopardy, but they strongly
karisrenee
advise against it, and I know for a fact that if you actively trade, it will negatively affect your chances of becoming a suggested user.
If you have ever in gaged in any transactions that don't fall within to the rules, get rid of any old listings that are not posh compliant. Delete any fake lv wallets lol or anything like that if applicable.
karisrenee
Make sure that your shipping time is very quick! And do your best to keep a high rating with your transactions and reviews!
They also have a soft spot of users who post new items regularly, so consider doing that each week or month.
When your page is squeaky clean, shoot a message to su@poshmark.com and let them know why you think your page should be considered for the suggested user program!
karisrenee
Heading into a movie now!! I'll pop back in and finish the rest of your questions when I get home 😘😘
ppamprrd
Wow, this page is awesome!! I am a new Posher and just learned a ton. I really appreciate all of the time that you have taken to answer questions here🤗😍😄
skutchesm
@karisrenee
Thank you for your opinion.
I thought about it, and would not want to change my closet name because I am so established.
Know anything about getting to be a suggested user?
Thank you much!😘
stja_
Thanks for your share karis! Loved your style and presentation at Poshfest 😻😻☺️💕
noe_lovely
Q: do we (the seller) pay for shipping, and if so are we reimbursed when the buyers funds go through?
karisrenee
That is a good idea @skutchesm! Changing your name can be a challenge if you're already established. However, if anyone wants to, you can reach out to support@ poshmark.com to request a change and see what they can do for you :))) I mentioned suggested user info above for you the other day hon - look for "(2)" above xo
karisrenee
aw!! Thank you babe!! @stephaniejacobo I'm totally feeling your cute flower flay lays 😘😘😘
karisrenee
Hi @noe_lovely! A: We the sellers do NOT pay for shipping. We actually pay for Nothing to sell or ship our items. When someone buys something from you, you will get a FREE shipping label via email from poshmark. You just print that out, stick it to a box with the sold item, and drop off at the post office (or schedule a pickup with USPS- they'll come to your door and get your mail if it's got the label ready to send!).
karisrenee
When your sold item arrives with the buyer, they have 72 hrs from the delivery date to mark the item as "accepted" (meaning everything is fine) OR open a case if there is an issue with the item (not accurately photographed or described, damaged, counterfeit, etc.). If they do not take any action within 72 hrs of delivery, then your earnings will be automatically released to you. You receive your sale price, minus the 20% that poshmark takes out in advance.
karisrenee
3 days (or 72hrs) is the longest (after delivery) that a seller will go without payment. Typically most buyers mark the transaction as "accepted" soon after it arrives and then give you a rating and review within 24hrs.
karisrenee
The only time that a transaction might take longer than that is if the buyer opens a claim saying that the seller has fault in the item being incorrect for whatever reason.
Keep in mind- your buyers are not allowed to return anything due to not liking the fit etc.. All sales on poshmark are final.
karisrenee
However, if a seller is at fault or guilty of mixing up an order, sending the wrong item, sending a broken or stained item, or really just shipping anything that was not CLEARLY mentioned in the original listing- then poshmark will take a few days to mediate. From there, they evaluate your original listing to see if you mentioned any damage etc..
karisrenee
If you did mention it and show pictures (and were just selling the item as-is, which many people do!), then you're fine! They'll see that and give you your $ and deny the buyer's claim. You get paid. Buyer moves on.
karisrenee
If you did not disclose whatever the issue is, then poshmark will decide in favor of the buyer and issue them a return shipping label to send the defective item back to you. When the return is delivered, the buyer gets their full refund.
So just try to be SUPER transparent in your listings to avoid hold ups like that.
xoxo
karisrenee
@pinkgalaxy
Q: Regarding meetups
A: I have not done an "official" one yet where you meet new people... just cuz I straight up sometimes don't want to go out of my way to hang with folks that I don't know haha The latest meetup in my area was like 1 hr away, and I didn't go. lol I'll be honest about my laziness! BUUUUUUTTTT
karisrenee
I do highly recommend doing "posh n sip" parties with you and your close girlfriends if you've convinced any of them to start on posh! I find that to be the most fun because we already know each other, the champs is flowing, and it's low maintenance. Sometimes, you can just get together w/ a posher and take bomb pics of each other for your page (and IG lol).
karisrenee
Those (to me) are the most productive.
But those official, bigger meetups look like a lot of fun too! Plus Georgia is popping, so I'm sure you'd meet some really cool gals!
pinkgalaxy
@karisrenee Yea girl I COMPLETELY understand. I'm soooo lazy sometimes. I love meeting new people, but I'm also kind of weary about doing so. I just moved to Georgia right before I started my closet, so I know basically no one. Oh yea and trust me it is POPPIN maybe a bit too much lol 😂
skutchesm
@karisrenee
I missed half of your answers! Duh! So sorry.
Gosh, you gave me awesome info! I cant thank you enough!🤗🤗
I agree 💯 percent with not talking price in the listing. I have done it in the past, but definitely wont be doing it anymore!
I may eventually write to Posh about being a
skutchesm
@karisrenee
Suggested User. I have always been compliant- (except once I sold a knock off MK bag, and an open makeup... LOL!) and have a 5 star average, or around there.. (no thanks to the lady that bought a NWT top from me last week and gave me 4 stars! And I pack really nicely
skutchesm
@karisrenee
and enclose a personal note! I was NOT happy. Yeah, maybe the top didn't fit her, but that sure isn't my fault! I always put measurements in the description too. Grrrrr!)
Are there any "perks" other than the status of being a Suggested User? Just curious.
So.... about YOU! I looked for you on FB and you are gorgeous, girl! Do you work in the fashion industry? And I adore your closet💕💕
karisrenee
lol we've ALL had something shady slip thru our fingers at one point hahaha @skutchesm! I totally feel you. and I had to just get over it one day after some woman gave me a low rating because SHE broke a necklace after wearing it several times lol like... girl BYE haha I just had to let it roll off my shoulders.
karisrenee
Benefit wise, "perks" are that when you are suggested as a user, you typically get lots of eyes on your page, which helps give you business if you're a good seller :) It's really just a platform, but it won't do anything for you if you're not a good seller who is prompt with customer service, you know? But I know you don't have a problem with that :))
karisrenee
Thank you dear!! Yeah, I work as a stylist and graphic designer when I'm not poshing, but I'm actually working on my own style blog! So I'll keep you posted 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
skutchesm
@karisrenee
Well, you are awesome!!! ❤️❤️❤️
karisrenee
YOU are! I've so enjoyed chatting with you today @skutchesm! You just hit me up if you ever need anything! xoxo ❤️❤️❤️
skutchesm
@karisrenee
Thank you! Have a great day, Karis!🎀
noe_lovely
Q: once and item is shipped and the buyer accepts, how do we get our funds? Is it deposited into our bank account? Or is it just a Poshmark credit?
karisrenee
A: @noe_lovely The funds once released are immediately put into your poshmark balance (which can be immediately used for purchases on poshmark). This is why so many sellers often request holds saying they're "waiting for funds from the last sale to come thru". Waiting for that acceptance notification can fee like forever if you want to buy something lol
karisrenee
BUT the good news is that you can ALSO immediately request a check to be mailed to you OR a direct deposit of those funds to your bank account - all which can be done here on the Poshmark app, and that bank transfer will process over the course of approx....2-3 business days. The check request will take longer (See "My Balance" in your app for more details).
karisrenee
So posh will not direct deposit your earnings until you initiate it. But you can do that anytime :)) A NEW development in this area is that you can now decide how much you want to send to your bank and how much you want to keep in your posh balance. For the past few years, you could only send the FULL posh balance amount to your bank or check request. Now, you can have $500, only send $400 to your bank or check request, and keep the $100 to shop on poshmark :)
noe_lovely
Thank you so much for your help! I appreciate it!
karisrenee
of course! Best of luck with your sales!! You know where to come if you ever get in a bind! btw I also have another few posts with random good info, so I'll tag you there too just in case you want to read up later! xo @noe_lovely
karisrenee
Q: Host Picks and how to get one
A: Well, @retrouvailles 1st of all, make sure you are following @official_forum. This account posts the schedule for parties so that you can see WHO your upcoming host(s) will be.
Typically, each host will create a listing on their page telling everyone "hey I'm hosting xyz date". Typically, this is where they like to see suggestions for HP's.
karisrenee
Most actually say "please tag your closet in the comments below to be considered for a HP". This is where you want to highlight yourself (#1).
(#2) I would go thru your list of upcoming hosts (there's SEVERAL each night!) and start sharing their items. Nothing gets attention like sharing!! Get that host to say "hmm who is this gal blowing up my feed with shares?? I like her- let me A check out her page and B possibly return the favor!"
karisrenee
It's all about visibility when getting a HP. The host has to see your page or item(s) to share it to the party.
Keep in mind, hosts usually start picking their HP's severalllll days in advance (sometimes even weeks!). So target your audience of hosts, interact with them in advance, get acquainted!
karisrenee
(#3) recommendations to avoid: (and I used to do this till I realized how annoying it was lol) Do. Not. Tag. The hosts in a bunch of your listings asking for HP's... This can get overwhelming & SO many people do it (especially the night of the party). When I host... this is the fastest way to NOT get a HP from me actually lol
Avoid this unless the host has actually mentioned in her party listing that she wants to be tagged :))
karisrenee
oh! And one more thing about HP's @retrouvailles!!! There are daytime parties too! I think at least 2 per day now PLUS the evening parties. If you can find out who's hosting the daytime ones, that expands your opportunities! They give out HP's for those too :)
karisrenee
Like "Best in Dresses & Skirts Party" etc. They do not do HP's (i don't think) for the branded ones like "Louis Vuitton, CHANEL, Burberry, Gucci & Valentino Party", but those others are just Open Opportunities! So when you get a day party notification on your phone- see who's hosting and get in front of them while the party is poppin! xooxo
retrouvailles
@karisrenee Hey there! Oh my gosh, I did not anticipate such a thorough and enlightening answer, thank you so very much! I have learned so much in these past few months on Posh, and you have continued to teach me yet more today! Thanks a million for taking the time to reply in detail, super helpful. :) Ali
retrouvailles
@karisrenee I do have a follow up question, please? How does PM choose who hosts parties? Sometimes I see hosts that have only a couple hundred followers and appear to be brand new (like several of the hosts for tonight's party!) and other times hosts have over 100k followers. Just curious if there is a standard for how hosts are chosen? Thanks once again for your time!! And don't forget to get some sleep now and again, too... ;) Ali
ejs_closet
Hi @karisrenee do you know why most poshers don't accept "pal"? Just wondering, I linked it & have been using it, just seems safer to me. Is there a fee or something? Thanks :) Elana (p.s it won't actually let me send this comment if I put "pay" in front of the other quoted text
karisrenee
Anytime doll! @retrouvailles Hope it's helpful and not gruelingly long lol
karisrenee
Whew!! @retrouvailles So I have slept since our last Q, so I'm ready for a new A :)

karisrenee
Q: HOW TO BECOME A POSH PARTY HOST
A: To be chosen as a host is really random (at least in my experience). But it has similarities to becoming a suggested user. So, if you read above, you'll see some of my tips on becoming a SU. I HIGHLY recommend double checking your closet to make sure your closet meets the criteria for this program 1st: http://bit.ly/1Aewckm
karisrenee
I say this because the poshmark team will go thru your page with a fine tooth comb to make sure all your listings and transactions are legit :) As a participant in this program, your closet is highly visible to the community and, as such, needs to set a great example.
karisrenee
Being selected to HOST is more about Poshmark finding you, so there's no step-by-step guide to attaining that status.
Just like becoming a SU, your closet activity will be heavily monitored and reviewed ((Which is why I'd HIGHLY DISCOURAGE TRADING if you want to host)). Trading is not forbidden (an it will not put your acct in jeopardy), but it is definitely not advised by the poshmark team,
karisrenee
and I know for a fact that if you actively trade, it will negatively affect your chances of becoming a suggested user OR party host. If you have ever engaged in any transactions that don't fall within to the rules, get rid of any old listings that are not posh compliant. Delete any fake lv wallets lol or anything like that if applicable.
karisrenee
Make sure that your activity is positive & stay active on social media! They also have a soft spot of users who post new items regularly and use blogging and social media to promote their own poshmark pages.
karisrenee
When your page is squeaky clean, shoot a message to hosting@ poshmark.com and let them know why you think your page should be considered for the party host program!
karisrenee
Hi there! @ejs_closet I have a listing all about "pal", so let me tag you there now to see if we already have an answer for you. xo
retrouvailles
@karisrenee So glad you rested, LOL! Thank you once again for taking the time to respond in such an incredibly thorough manner, I really appreciate it and know many other Poshers are interested in your very informative answers! Feeling good about the compliance part (no trades, no fakes! Haha!) but I do need to get more items posted... Just a matter of finding the time, right? Thanks so much again, taking your sage advice!!
ejs_closet
@karisrenee thanks!
itsoinky
You ROCK! *high five!*
karisrenee
omg wtf LOL @kw4094 Well girl, you certainly did the right thing!! When I see unsupported items, a report will do, but if it's bad...like BAD, then I email posh after hitting "Report" like 5 times hahaha
karisrenee
I also send a screenshot to include as evidence. I wouldn't recommend this for EVERY unsupported item, but for terrible harassment or selling crazy things like kids or pets or adult toys, I gotta get a bit more involved and send an email like you did + Evidence!!
karisrenee
One time, there was a man that was actually purchasing (exclusively) used/worn socks from women and would ask them to post photos. He was reported based on the SEVERAL women who went to his profile, hit those 3 little dots at the top right, and reported him for harassment (or whatever option fit).
karisrenee
The original girl that noticed this actually created a post ABOUT him, showing his username in the comments (not tagging him as "@creeperdude" but just "his username is creeperdude"), and even the women who did not know him- helped her report him and eventually got him kicked off. The only thing about that is that poshmark does not encourage creating listings ABOUT other poshers.
karisrenee
So to keep yourself safe, I'd create a general listing about shady activity (like a discussion/forum post), discuss the details in the comments, see if you can get your friends & followers to help report him, and Do Not Forget to email support @ poshmark.com with all the details!! This will give everyone the heads up, while protecting your acct at the same time. Take this straight to posh support girl! There are creepers LURKING lol
ericarose1989
Hi Karis! Absolutely adore your kloset! This post is amazing & oh so helpful. So sweet of you to use your expertise to help everyone out & your personality ⭐️shines⭐️ through!! I have a question about other Poshers using my photos on their listings. This is a major bummer for me as I put a lot of time & effort into my photography. I noticed that you watermark your images, but any other tips besides that?
ericarose1989
I always keep my interactions professional & don't want to start drama on anyone's page, but I don't want others using my photos! I label them as my own in the description of my listings. Any advice would be much appreciated! 💕 I have contacted PM's copyright department.
karisrenee
Hi @ericarose1989 I know exactly how you feel. I also feel the same way about drama. To avoid confrontation, all I do (and recommend) is this:
Screenshot the page that is doing this, and screenshot the actual listing. Send this + YOUR ORIGINAL photos to support @ poshmark.com (you won't need to access a special dept).
karisrenee
Let them know that someone else is posting your photos without your consent, and voice your concerns about mis-representation and your copyright (plus that you've already asked users not to repost your content).
They will reach out to the other user and have it removed without ever involving you.
karisrenee
See, even though I occasionally watermark, people sometimes dont see it or dont care and STILL hijack the pics. I used to ask politely, but there's really no nice way to do it without sounding passive-aggressive lol so just stick with support, and they'll get it taken down and let you know all about the details along the way.
karisrenee
((I actually had a gal that did that with a listing of mine, and she had actually BLOCKED me as soon as she stole the photos so that I couldn't comment on it and request the removal!)) lol so shady. But get this- after PM had her remove my pics... she POSTED THEM AGAIN in a new listing. SO Annoying uggghhhhh haha Her acct actually got suspended after that 2nd time, and now she's back up with her own pics.
karisrenee
But my point is that poshmark will handle it all as long as you can prove that you own every photo in question. My Pro Tip:
***** It helps to keep an UNcropped, UNfiltered original to share with them for comparison to the edited square shot that has been stolen.
ericarose1989
Ahhhh oh my goodness, thank you for taking the time to give such a well thought out & helpful answer! 👏🏼 That all makes so much sense, especially the heads up about keeping an unfiltered image of email to Posh. I definitely hang on to all of those, luckily!
ericarose1989
I can't believe someone did that to you TWICE & even pre-blocked you so you couldn't do anything. Grrrrrr! Then it's obvious that it's not just some innocent mistake but someone who knows they're in the wrong. 👿 Again, thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question!! 💕
karisrenee
omg when I see that pre-block 👿👿👿👿 It makes me want to go full Teresa and flip a table!!!!!!! LOL Seriously, some people are SO shadyyyyyyyyyyyy on purpose. But there are always innocent ones too, so it takes the pressure off of us to handle it when we can use support @ericarose1989. You come by anytime you need anything mamacita!! xoxo
ericarose1989
Ughhhh, seriously so shady. 😡🙄 At first it makes me so frustrated, but then I have to think that maybe it was all done innocently. Best to let the professionals handle it & call in the Posh patrol! Thanks again girl! 💕

How do I get picked to host a party or have a Host Pick for a party?! I have nothing but awesome ratings! I love POSH & our community! My closet is Posh Compliant! I feel like I just get looked over in the whole scheme of closets?! Help how can I stand out more?! Thanks so much love!
itskaitlee
@karisrenee ⬆️Also thanks so much for having this awesome listing up & taking the time to help other Poshers! I LOVE it! Such a unique app & a cool place to buy and sell among super cool chicks! Hope you didn't answer the same question I had a million x's! I read lots of other Q&A's and didn't see quite what I was looking for! There's so much helpful info though! Thanks again!!! 💁🏻💕✨

arilov99
Hi! Thank you for this, it's wonderful! You mentioned not discussing prices on comment line. Let's say you have multiple quantities of an item, you accept a certain offer, but as you said circumstances may change, if you need to sell it at a different price maybe higher, there is the issue because previous sales always show to the bottom of your page 🙂 guess my question is , can I delete an old transaction? Thaaank u! 😍
forever29pa
This is amazing and helpful. You are wonderful ❤️
taropuff
Thanks for sharing your insights. They're well-thought out and provide superb guidance for new Poshers! I am greatly appreciative!
taropuff
What has your experience been when your items have been tagged as a "Host Pick"? I've seen some people update their photos and listing titles to denote this, but does this really increase the probability of selling vs. your regular items?
caitcan16
So when I sell something, what do I ship it in? I can't use the USPS boxes.
krnkndl15
I just went through this like 10 minutes ago and seriously you are the best for doing this 🙌🏼☺️
karisrenee
@taropuff it doesn't in my opinion! I used to do it because I was so proud, but realistically..... nobody is searching "HP 1/12/15 style party" when they're looking for an item that you carry. I think at best, one might use an emoji, but it does not help the search engine to note Host Pick. I no longer do this, but I'd recommend adding the note to your cover photo so that it shows up in a major nice way and does not take away from limited title character #.
karisrenee
@taropuff so glad you found this helpful!!!!! Xxoo
karisrenee
@caitcan16 you can ship in anything! Any box without another visible shipping label babe 🎀 what do you mean about you can't use usps boxes? You can use the white and red boxes, envelopes, etc that say "priority" on them!
You can even have these shipped to your home for free from usps online - just look for "order supplies" or something like that. But you can ship in anything from recycled amazon boxes to any other cardboard box, envelope, etc..
karisrenee
@krnkndl15 so glad it wasn't too long and annoying lol always happy to help! Send any friends this way if they have any questions! 🎀🎀🎀🎀

You have a GORGEOUS closet!! Q: is there an easier way to arrange your closet in order to bump down all the sales to the bottom other than sharing or editing each item? Thank you for taking time to help others be successful! Hope you have a BLESSED Holiday seaSON! 😊✝️🎄
karisrenee
Hey there!! @mammaking A: unfortunately, no😩😩😩
Sharing or editing your listing is the only way to update the item, therefore bringing it closer to the top of your closet and your followers' feeds.
Poshmark has tried to make this a little easier, though with their latest update that they recently announced!
karisrenee
Now, when you are looking at your closet page, you can hold down the cover photo for each listing, and it will give you an easy option to share the listing without spending all the time required to open it individually, scroll down, share, etc.!
karisrenee
Keep in mind, if you have a multiple item listing, for example one T-shirt design but in several size ranges, when someone purchases that listing in their specific size, there is a new sold listing automatically generated for them and play somewhere near the bottom of your closet automatically! This is so that you can discuss there in the comments section anything specifically pertaining to that transaction
karisrenee
without it being so public in the listing that still available for other people to purchase! Does that make sense?? I really like this feature because it saves you time without having to create a new listing for anyone
preciousonez
Karis Thanks for your posh tips. I just read alot of the comnents, tips and tricks to the business. It would help sales once you learn the in and outs. If i have questions i will run it by you. I see u are a local neighbor.

Kari's, you have a beautiful closet and I absolutely love your style. I would like to get better with my photos. i am a novice at photography but would like to get more proficient. I go back and forth between my iPhone and a point and shot camera (because my iPhone is always maxed out with pictures🙈). Any suggestion with a good editing tool either on iPhone or on a computer (I have a mac) that is also user friendly? And any photography tips in general you would like to share? Thanks!!! 😘
collectionbyk
Thanks so much for all of this helpful information! I joined Poshmark this summer and I'm having a great time! The hardest thing for me is taking good photos. Any tips on good lighting when using an iPhone? Also how do some photos look so professional with crisp white backgrounds? Even when my background is white everything looks dark and shadowy. Any advice? Do I need photoshop? Thanks again for being so generous with your time!!

Thank you so much for sharing with me and also creating this Q&A!!!!!!! You totally rock! 💕
karisrenee
Q: A buyer purchased a large amount of items from me. I stopped it and it says it was delivered, but she is saying she have not received her package. This is the second time this has happened to me.
The first time, I had a gut feeling that the seller was lying and I feel the same way now.
karisrenee
The first time it worked out, because I told her I would file a mail fraud claim, and she then told me it popped up. This time I'm curious to know how it works with Postmark of this happens? Does Postmark still give the seller their funds?
Or do I take a loss?
karisrenee
A: Well, @allthingzglam My seller rule is "SHIP ASAP NO MATTER WHAT, and I'll tell you why- even if there is some kind of shadiness or fraud, you the seller only have a responsibility to ship your sold items. If it's legit, you will get a nice pay check. If it's not legit, you will still be covered. Here's how: Poshmark will never force you to take the loss, as the fault is not on your end.
karisrenee
IF for whatever reason, there was a large order that seemed strange (no questions asked in advance, sizing seems all over the place, etc.), you can do 1 of 2 things: (1) Wait a couple of days to ship to see if poshmark emails you that the order has been cancelled because they suspect fraud. This has happened to me before even on a small 1 item order! Then, you have lost nothing and you re-list the item for sale. OR
karisrenee
(2) You ship that huge order ASAP, make sure you get shipping confirmation, and wait patiently. If it's fraudulent, poshmark will notify you, and you respond back with the tracking # and let them know that it's already been shipped. If they force-cancel any order that has already been shipped, they will immediately give you your earnings back (before the pkg has even arrived with the buyer).
karisrenee
They do this because it's only up to you to ship and sell- not to be an investigator. Poshmark will cover that cost. PLUS- say the order IS legit, and it's some busy working mom getting gifts for her kids and co-workers... you still want to build your reputation as a FAST and courteous shipper, so you wouldn't want to hold it up if it was a clean sale just because of your suspicion.
karisrenee
The point is- even if it's sketchy, poshmark will still pay you for doing what you're supposed to do. I personally prefer to rely on that than my own investigator skills to sniff out a scam. Rather get paid vs. hold up a sale that just might be AOK. Even if it's not- you still get paid for the items that you shipped out thinking that you had a true buyer. Does that make sense?
karisrenee
Do not stress yourself stopping anything. If you're contacting any post office regarding an item you already shipped, you're already doing too much lol What's the point? They stop the pkg and send it back to you because YOU had a gut feeling? That could go bad, and it's not the best use of your time. What if you're wrong? Even though it's highly unlikely that you're wrong, and you should trust your intuition - you can also still get paid.
karisrenee
So unless it's something highly valuable or sentimental that you genuinely need back (in which case, you pro wouldn't have sold it in the 1st place), don't put yourself thru the trouble of even reaching out to the buyer to investigate if they're "real" or not. It's not your job- you can be enjoying a margarita and letting the paid poshmark team handle all that LOL
karisrenee
I personally prefer to go with the option that gives me a better chance of getting paid (whether it's by the buyer directly or poshmark covering the sale).
Hope that helps!
vaultedcloset
@karisrenee Thank you so much for your response. The "Stopped" was a typo. That was suppose to be shipped. I feel so much better, to know that I will still be covered. Initially, it seemed a bit sketchy before the order was placed, but I still went ahead and shipped it, because I agree with you a 100%, I could've been wrong. So, once again thank you so so much for your response. I appreciate it a great deal!!! Happy Holidays!
karisrenee
And to you too babe! Just keep track of your emails and look out if Poshmark sends you anything :) Happy to help! xox @allthingzglam

@karisrenee This is great! I just read through this and got some great tips! Thanks for this Q&A! :)
luv2inspire
This might of been answered already, but I was wondering how often you've had packages that are not scanned by USPS? Recently, I've noticed quite a few packages that seem to be delayed, or not scanned by USPS. I'm becoming concerned, should I call USPS or just start dropping them off myself at the shipping center? Thanks!
karisrenee
@designerfix hey there! How are you currently shipping now? USPS pickup? Sending a friend to drop off? I just noticed you mentioned dropping them off yourself as a new suggestion, so please tell me more about what your current process is.
I will say that during the holiday season, the post office is very behind with pkg scans, but there are ways to avoid that!
luv2inspire
@karisrenee thanks for your response! :) I currently schedule pickups from USPS to my house or work. However, I'm thinking about taking the packages directly to a USPS location to make sure they scan the packages immediately and my average shipping time stays low. Thanks!
karisrenee
That's exactly what I'd recommend @designerfix. See the pickups are convenient, but there's no guarantee of WHEN exactly that carrier will get your pkg to the distribution center. It's typically 1-2 bus days AFTER the pickup :( At least if you take it to the post office and drop it off, you'll see activity sooner:
karisrenee
Slowest- Drop off at general mail center (accepts UPS, USPS, Fed Ex, etc)
SLOW- USPS Pickup
AVERAGE- Drop off at USPS Post office (in box outside or shoots inside, which all have different posted times that they are cleaned out)
FASTEST- Actually walk your pkgs up to the person at the USPS Post Office and have them scan it there in front of you.
karisrenee
Just let them know that you need a receipt showing that these items have been dropped off, and they will scan each item in right there. (You don't actually need the receipt, but this will ensure that they do not set it aside & wait.)
Keep in mind that even when you do this, it STILL takes several hours for the tracking scan to be visible as "shipped" in the mailstream. So there's already a chunk of processing hours that takes place between SCAN and online update.
karisrenee
Also, it's really important to keep in mind that from December 10th - January 10th.... the post office is SO backed up from holiday sales and shipping... like their activity increases more than triple, and they don't hire enough people to manage it. So, ALL of my items shipped since early Dec have been delayed at least 1-2 bus days from when I dropped them off.
karisrenee
And I was kinda screwed because the lines inside are SO long (when it's usually no one!), so for the sake of time, I'd drop off at boxes around town or outside the Post Office. Even those were more delayed than usual. Unfortunately, some buyers will not understand/believe you, but it's a verified fact.
karisrenee
I tried several different methods this month & can attest to it. Plus poshmark confirmed the same via email when I asked about delayed orders that I had already sent out. Like... I was getting those LATE NOTICE emails to remind me to ship, and I'm like...waaaaiiiit a minute lol so FYI Dec-Jan, try to ship immediately, because if you wait a few days (which is usually fine), the USPS delays might push you over the edge in terms of shipping/wait time.
karisrenee
Q: going out of town for three months - is there any way I can change the address to have things delivered there so I can still purchase but not sell until I get back home?
karisrenee
A: yes! @teachme123 🖤 The good news is that it's very simple to update your mailing address. Just tap on your username (shown in the bottom right-hand corner of your menu bar with a card graphic right above it). This will take you to a list of several options including viewing my closet, my likes, my sales, my purchases, and my address.
karisrenee
This is where you will change your info to match the new place that you will be staying. I actually recommend updating that now before you go so that you don't forget and get something shipped to your previous address that you can't enjoy (or review) for 3 months 😉
karisrenee
NOTE: it is very important to keep in mind that when you receive a Poshmark order, you only have 72 hours to confirm that the item is OK or open a claim showing that it was not properly described. So, if someone were to send you the wrong thing, or send you an item in bad condition, or something was broken or stained during shipping...
karisrenee
you wouldn't have the opportunity to get your money back or prove the issue. After 72 hrs from delivery time, the order would be automatically accepted, and the seller would be awarded the earnings no matter what- even if they screwed up your order. So remember to update your address sooner than later so you don't run into that issue.

I appreciate your follow up email and I did not feel uncomfortable providing you with the receipts, I felt uncomfortable going off platform to do it- I never have before and it was your long history on Posh, stats and shares that made me honor your request. You are correct, I shouldn't have sent the email since it sent my uh-oh meter off. I have supplied posh with my statement and let them know I am happy to provide anything additional to make their job easier and decision quickly. Thank you🌸

@karisrenee Hi first thanks for all there shares 😊 I was wondering if you have bought from the poshmark wholesale portal and if so have you had success with doing so ?
lcfrogs
@karisrenee How long does it take for Poshmark to either accept or deny a claim that an item was broken, etc.... The buyer doesn't want it for whatever reason after getting it? This happened to me a couple days ago. I'm not sure what was wrong with what I shipped. I always try to thoroughly describe my clothing items since most of them are lightly used. So anyway, it mica embarrassed me actually and made me feel bad!

Q: Not sure how to bundle something x2 or just pick the one item in two different colors.
karisrenee
A: this is actually a tough one because the issue is not you @jeannel2019. It's currently just a limitation of the app. In order to get something duplicated, I have had to ask the seller to either make a duplicate listing for me to bundle myself OR just have them create a bundle listing for you manually.
karisrenee
To pick one item in 2 different colors or sizes:
if you cannot (A) add the one option to your bundle and then navigate back to the seller's closet & then that same listing and add the other option from the same listing to your bundle, then it sounds like the system is recognizing it
karisrenee
the same way that it does with duplicate items in a bundle, and you will have to go with method (B) and ask the seller to manually set up a special listing for you. Keep in mind to ask them to apply their bundle discount to that manual bundle if they offer one! Don't just let them double the price if it would have been discounted the other way ;)
xo
karisrenee
@dirtygirly hey hon! Regarding your Q: Host Picks and how to get one, take a look at this listing and scroll up to the date Oct 26 11:01AM! I just noticed that I have a full explanation already here for you that may help! xo

@mahzzy Hey sweetie! Just checking in! How is your posh business doing? I went thru a crazy phase with work & was really inactive with poshing for awhile :( Are you still seeing slow growth?
karisrenee
@christinachacha hey doll! Just checking in! How is your posh business doing? I went thru a crazy phase with work & was really inactive with poshing for awhile :( Have you been seeing any exciting sales in your closet this year??
bunchofstyle
@karisrenee good yesterday I sold 7 joining All the posh groups on Facebook helped so much you should join
karisrenee
@fairyofashion Hey there! Sorry for the crazy late delay- I went thru a crazy phase with work & was really inactive with poshing for awhile :( Have you been using the posh wholesale portal at all? I have not personally ever shopped there. Not because the items aren't great,
karisrenee
but because the pricing has been too high for me to really make anything back worth the effort and then charge my customer a realistic amount. I hate hate hate over-pricing, and from what I have seen so far, I know that this is what I would be forced to do w/ the wholesale portal.
karisrenee
See, you have to keep in mind that the people there selling wholesale packets are ALSO being charged 20% like any other seller. So they are marking UP their wholesale prices to get a good return. ALSO, many of these stores/brands in the portal are NOT actually the direct/original manufacturer of the goods, so they cannot all get items for as cheap as TRUE wholesale businesses can.
karisrenee
There are people selling there that are just working with vendors to give them good deals. Maybe even wholesale deals, but in order for that posh girl to make any $$, she can't just sell it for what she bought it for. Say, for example, she has a bracelet that cost her $3 wholesale from her factory/vendor connection.
karisrenee
She has to then (1) mark it up once by 20% (or .06 cents, rounded up to $1) to cover the 20% she'll lose to poshmark. But at this point, she's only breaking even. She's making 0% profit. That is not worth the business effort. So, THEN she'd have to (2) mark the $4 bracelet up AGAIN to around $8 JUST to make $6.40 when it sells. This is an acceptable profit of $3.40. But then....
karisrenee
This gal may think.... "only making $3.40 off of this bracelet is not enough. This is a great style that I think could sell retail on the right model & in the right boutique for about $20." So, she'll mark it up (3) AGAIN to $10 as her wholesale price, with a suggested retail value of $20. She wants you to then sell that $10 bracelet from her for at least $20 for yourself. But that is totally left to you! That $3 bracelet went all the way up to $10, and they consider it "Wholesale".
karisrenee
And that bracelet might have actually only cost $1.50 to make. See, the posh girl seller BOUGHT that piece from someone. She didn't make it herself in a factory she owns. So the company that sold it to HER is making a profit too, even though it's small. Still there. I work with an apparel manufacturing company, and factories all over the world can make things dirt cheap.
karisrenee
Factories are HUGE & can make that $20+ bracelet for $1.50. See, the wholesale deal was $3. But because these independent sellers are so often adding in their own (necessary and fair) costs, it comes out to be a product that I most often see as overpriced. I have not used the wholesale portal because I can see items that I know cost only $3 to TRULY buy wholesale, but the posh seller has it for $10+ to make it worth their while.
karisrenee
Now I have to sell it for at least $20 MINIMUM to only make $16 back from an item that cost me $10? Then I'm only making $6 from a $20 bracelet. Not at all a good return. So then I have to make it more (1) and then account for lower offers and negotiations to come down to (2) and include the cost of any pkging (3). And so on...
karisrenee
Now you've got a $3 purchase value piece that you have to list for at least $25 to get a double profit (of $20) from your original $10 purchase price. + listing it higher around $30 so that you can negotiate back down with buyers to your lowest price of $25... no thanks. If I can tell that thing was probably only $3, then I might have a customer who thinks the same and will never buy it with me for $30. Does that make sense?
karisrenee
@theposhcat it's totally anonymous, and I sing like a BIRD!!! lol Thank you for the kind words hon! I hope my comment is not too late :)
Q: When you report a closet acct, do they know it was you?
karisrenee
A: no way, so blow that whistle, boo! haha really, though, if you run into an acct that is just doing crazy things and selling ridiculous items that are not allowed for whatever reason... report the page AND report each listing that is questionable.
karisrenee
Now, this is just me, but I will say that I personally have never felt like the report button was ever super effective lol not because that's proven or anything, but just because the page still looks the same after I've reported it!
karisrenee
I swear there is an unattended inbox somewhere in posh-land with all of our unopened report reports haha So if it's especially bad, I will (A) block the closet to avoid them interacting w me in any way, (B) report every instance of problem, and then (C) send a follow up message to support @ poshmark.
karisrenee
They won't immediately take action and shut that acct down, but at least that way, you get a reply from a person (eventually) acknowledging the specific issues that you addressed.
karisrenee
Keep in mind, I only do this for accounts that are especially problematic that have likely somehow affected me negatively or another posher. But take this all w a grain of salt. DO NOT waste your precious time on cleaning up after these folks who operate on a lower level of integrity than you. You'll never have any free time! ha :) But no, they'll never know it was you. xo
karisrenee
@christinachacha That's AWESOME!!!! Congrats girlee! You're killing it!
bunchofstyle
@karisrenee I can't wait to be su 🙏🙏
karisrenee
@christinachacha you totally will be at this rate!! You have great brands and high quality pieces to sell 🌸🌸
karisrenee
Q: what boxes to use for poshmark orders
karisrenee
A: @debbielicona14 yes, you need to look for the ones that just say priority. It really depends on the post office, because I've gone to some that allow me to ship my posh items in their "priority flat rate" boxes, but there are others who will not allow it and require you to only ship with the "priority" only boxes. They all pretty much look the same, white with red designs, but there are subtle differences in the names.
karisrenee
The easiest way to actually do it would be to (a) go to your nearest post office and pick up several different sizes of priority boxes for your home so that you can package your sales, and then schedule USPS pick ups (where the driver comes to your place and picks up your labeled boxes that you leave at the door, or (b) get on the USPS website and order priority
karisrenee
boxes to be shipped directly to your house for free, and then you could schedule pick ups or even drop them off at the actual post office.
Whatever you do, avoid any boxes that have the word "express" anywhere on there with mainly navy blue designs on white background, as that is a separate mailing service, and the shipping labels that this app provides are for priority only 😉 which will have mainly red designs.
mahzzy
@karisrenee you are so sweet for even reaching out, life had gotten in the way for a while. I was seeing follower growth, almost without much effort, just not actual sales!
karisrenee
@mahzzy I know exactly what you mean! Sometimes I get that too, but it comes and goes in waves, so don't stress it 💕
stegburr
Hello :) how do you arrange items in your closet in a certain order? Thank you!
bellanovella
Hello, 1st I just love your closet & this listing has been so informative. I have also had people share me & I cannot share back because I am blocked & have had no interaction w/ that posher. My questions is about apps. I recently switched from android to an i-pad and now my images come out w/ black bars on the sides. I take pic w/ an actual camera or use stock photos until I an get a model. Do you recommend any apps for an i-pad. Also how do you watermark your own photos?
bellanovella
Another question or opinion. I try to arrange my closet by categories: tops, skirts, dresses, but sometimes I want some things at the top though that are newer and this messes up the categories. I have been told to also organize by color. Do you find it helps to organize your listings in any specific way? Thank you so much.
karisrenee
Q: how to arrange your closet items in a specific order?
karisrenee
A: in order to do this, @stegburr, it's very simple! It's all about the order in which you share your own items. As you may have seen, posh success is all about sharing. You can share other users' items, and you of course should share your own! The order in which you share your items is the order in which they will display in your closet page. Think of it like Pinterest: every time you pen something, it goes to the top of your activity feed.
karisrenee
It's very similar with the feed here on poshmark. Every time an item is shared, it goes to the top of the feed, displayed for all your followers to see. ((This is why getting a share from a big user with a large number of followers is so beneficial! For example- If I share one of your items, it's going to go to the top of the feed of everyone who follows me!))
karisrenee
So if you want to highlight something specific on your page, you just share that item in your closet yourself, and when you refresh your closet, you will see it up at the top. Some people go so far as to arrange things in order by section, like tops, pants, etc.. I actually don't recommend that because it's very difficult to keep up with, and then you have to share in that order EVERY time! I prefer instead, to
karisrenee
highlight my NEWLY ADDED items or best selling items by sharing them last, putting them at the top of my closet page, which is the most noticeable area.
karisrenee
@donnaguy I was actually just talking about this with another user this morning! Take a look at my reply just above ^^^^
I personally think that it's more important to highlight your specific new or crowd favorite items at the top of your page vs categories like style and color. But that is my personal preference that has worked for me! Sometimes I will group a few things according to color, but that is more about the color/theme of the
karisrenee
photo (like for example, i've made the first 10 items all match together in a color story or something just for a day or 2, but then the rest of the page is mixed.) I prefer to keep it all mixed up because it encourages your followers to go through your entire page to see what you have available. If you're looking for basic black pants, I'm going to spread my 3 black pants listings at the top middle and bottom of my page
karisrenee
so that you go through everything, finding great new items along the way, and potentially increasing the overall sales potential. This is the reason why grocery stores put essentials like milk and bread and eggs toward the back of the store-- so that you have to walk through all of the other fun stuff in the other aisles to get to it.
karisrenee
... This is also why people like me end up coming for ONE THING & then leaving the grocery store with A giant basket full of stuff! You are the store, and you want to merchandise your page for optimal sales. You want your customers to leave your page with a basket full of stuff! This is why I merchandise my page according to what photos flow and look the best together in a sequence versus what items match by color. If you create a pretty experience and environment, people will stay there longer.
karisrenee
@donnaguy i'm jumping in the car! But I will come back to your first question in a sec 😘 thank you for the kind words and posh love 😘😘😘
bellanovella
@karisrenee Thank You!!! I thought the same thing, if you mix things up people want to see what is next. Like your closet, when I look at it I find myself looking more to see what else is in there.. I still get dazzled by your closet & spend more time just browsing. Thank you for taking the time to read & answer questions. I am still playing w/ apps to figure out what will work best. Have a great day.
ltordoff
@karisrenee Hi, I purchased some cute wholesale boutique items to sell last summer, and only one item has sold since. I have been active on poshmark by participating in parties and sharing many posher's closets. I was also a part of a few share groups at one point. My sales do go up when I share more, but it seems that only my gently used items sell and not my boutique items.
ltordoff
I recently purchased more boutique items in hopes that having a greater selection will attract more buyers. So I am doing what I can to push sales. My prices are not outrageous, and I have already dropped them a little bit in hopes of getting a few sale. They are also not priced so cheap that the customer would question the quality of the clothing.
ltordoff
I have good quality photos, including the original picture provided and ones that I took on my own. If you get a chance, could you drop in my closet and give it a quick glance? Maybe you have some insight as to why my items are not selling?
Thanks,
Lindsey
karisrenee
@donnaguy Regarding your photos and the black bars that are showing up- this usually occurs when the original photo that you're working with is not cropped to a true square.
karisrenee
Poshmark is similar to instagram in that only square photos will display properly. I recommend editing your photos just in the Photos app (regular photo gallery) and crop the shots to a 2:2 square so that when you upload to poshmark, you can avoid the bars. I also recommend the app Photogrid for cropping to a square ratio, including multiple shots in one shot, and adding text over shots.
karisrenee
@ltordoff Hey girl! I just took a peek at your page, and #1 CONGRATS on hosting your first party! I'd recommend ONE SIZE FITS ALL items. This is really important in building your business if you're looking for a boost.
karisrenee
At the end of the day, Any and EVERY girl will buy a pair of cute sunnies online before she buys a dress that she doesn't know for sure will fit her.
karisrenee
I did not see hardly any of my clothing selling until my accessories and jewelry started selling 1st, and then customers bundle. Even if you have S, M, and L, you may have customers who want specific fits like 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12. This is obviously more expensive to invest in, but it also gives a buyer more insight to how something might fit. I, personally almost Never buy s, m, or l online because it's almost a guarantee that it will be wrong (and we can't try anything on! lol).
karisrenee
So I don't think that your issue is so much gently used items vs wholesale portal items. Your older items are selling because (A) you can drop the price to as low as you really want and (B) some of them are recognizable brand names. With wholesale portal items, there
karisrenee
is not really a lot of brand recognition (at least in my opinion) in regards to the masses. I'd recommend hats, scarves, glasses, bracelets, etc over dresses and tops simply because those items can be worn and shopped by anyone with an almost guarantee that it'll fit/work out!
bellanovella
Thank You! I will try photogrid. I was using piccollage on android, but now on an ios system it does not work the same. Thank you again for answering questions and also for the Host Picks. Have a lovely night.
karisrenee
This is the most helpful (and long) listing that I recommend peeking at when you get a sec @marlsmeow. The Q & A here is essentially all the stuff that @detzold & I talked about forever ago when she first got started. I just decided to put it all in one place for reference. ✖️✖️

@19smarie69
Sarah, this girl, Karis, is the BOMB! Love her and her closet!
mcfausnight
@michjprieto wow!!! There's so much great info here!!! Thank you soooo much! This took a lot of time and thoughtful effort!!! ❤️❤️❤️
karisrenee
@31fittings 😂😂 I have to tell you, I've been selling on here for years, and that still drives me nuts! Yes, when people add just one item to a bundle, I think it's because they are either testing out how the feature works, or they are looking for a discount offer. Most of my prices have some flexibility, so I'll
karisrenee
knock off a couple of dollars if I can, but if not, I'll just share a few similarly styled items that I might have from my closet to their dressing room. So, if they added a pair of sunglasses, I will share my other sunnies that might be from the same designer, you know? but it has honestly yet to prove to be a worthwhile time investment, as most single item bundlers do not actually buy. But some do!
erineek
@deanabean6 haha, I'm loving this, so entertaining and informational! How am I just now finding this🤔
poshgarden
Did I just see you on a PM commercial w/Vanessa?
karisrenee
@erineek it’s so funny! One day, I realized that we had all this great advice and knowledge spread out across a bunch of listings, so I’m really glad that I made this Q and A option 💋💋💋hope it’s helpful!
karisrenee
@poshgarden yes! Haha!! I haven’t met Vanessa or the other girl that I believed filmed one as well, but we each have our own solo versions and then they did a really cool one where they merged them all together! Super cool ✨✨✨
poshgarden
After I sent you that question, I actually saw your solo commercial. Beautiful and well done👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤗
erineek
@karisrenee It actually has been helpful. Thank you for taking the initiative and time👍😊
misna06
Please take a look at some of my listings and/or closet and provide tips on how to keep making sales. I’m in a slump and it’s bugging me? Do I have crappy stuff? Am I not providing enough details? I have a high rating and fast shipping so I don’t think that’s it?!? HELP❤️
karisrenee
Question: someone just made an offer on my item. How do I show that the item is now sold?
karisrenee
@minnieq82 hey there! When someone makes an offer via poshmark, you then have the option to accept or reject that offered price. This will be available in the news/notifications section of your app. Once you’ve accepted or negotiated the final price and both sides have agreed, the item will automatically be marked as “sold” in the app.
karisrenee
@minnieq82 however, if the offer you’re talking about was made off of the app ((like someone offered to buy it from you in person or something)) then you just edit the listing to put sold in the title or delete the entire item from your closet using the “Edit” button at the top right of your listing. At the very bottom, there is an option to mark the item as “not for sale”. Hope that helps!
karisrenee
Q: how can I improve my selling? Why do I want followers in, say... a “followers game” if they don’t buy from me??
karisrenee
@knockoutrose1 so, here’s the thing! It’s always good to build your followers because if they haven’t purchased something YET, you’re still adding to your master list of people who will get your notifications/views WHEN you finally do post something that they like. So it’s always good to increase your potential reach!
karisrenee
Regarding how you can get more buyers: I peeked thru your page and found a couple of items that I would just totally rename in order to get more visibility. You want your items to come up when people SEARCH for terms, so you don’t want to waste any title space by, for example, Re-stating the brand (which already has its own space in the listing). So, feel free to try the suggestions I left in the comments & see if that helps!
🎀🎀🎀🎀
karisrenee
Q:
How do I style someone or make a bundle offer to someone on my friends list?
A:
Styling is actually as simple as sharing!
So “styling someone” and “sharing to a user’s bundle” is actually the same thing. Any time you share an item to a user’s bundle, it will then be added to their digital “fitting room” for them to review, edit, and make an offer! Making these recommendations is “styling” on Posh 💕
karisrenee
So, go to your closet and start to do a basic SHARE 🔄 of whatever item of your choice.
Like always, you’ll see a pop-up with options to share this listing to:
(1) your followers
(2) to the Posh party (if one is going on)
(3) a list of posh names
(4) various social media platforms
karisrenee
Search for your friend’s username on that popup, and tap the name.
✨✨✨
Boom! You’ve now shared that item to their digital fitting room, and you can check on those items by going to your friend’s closet and clicking the shopping bag at the top right!
(If you don’t see the items you shared yet, don’t worry! Tap the 3 dots at the top right and “switch to seller view”.)
karisrenee
Hey there @bentleychick!
Here’s my tips on styling someone and building a bundle 💕
bentleychick
Hi there is a seller that has 115 listings ALL are REPLICA items she has listed as Authentic she sold 40 items tonight already now all these people are being ripped off ... Nobody from poshmark has shut the seller down. so sad. And this is Illegal. what can we do ???
bentleychick
no joke this person im talking about has now sold close to $10k in COUNTERFEIT/REPLICA Purses tonight. what is wrong with Poshmark ?? This is big time scam
orangeleopard
@karisrenee thank you for explaining the game to us!
karisrenee
@bentleychick That is wild! Have you sent screenshots and opened a case with Poshmark support?
Your best bet aside from reporting the closet and every illegal listing in it would be opening a case with support @ poshmark. c0m
It takes them a few days to respond, but at least you can connect with a real person and confirm that the information has been received. I highly recommend including screenshot references or links!!
karisrenee
@oitsmelg we’re all playing to win babe! ❤️ finally about to transfer over some of this helpful information to my blog KarisRenee.com 👏🏾👏🏾
I actually launched it back in 2016 talking posh tips, and I’m about to get back into it!!
bentleychick
hi. i sent screen shots and poshmark removed the seller and all the items as they were all replicas and she said they were authentic. thank you have a great night
karisrenee
Q: Is there a way to suggest to the buyer if they don’t like your offer to counter or decline?
(@websterpoo55 I am answering your question here since that previous thread was extremely old ❤️)
karisrenee
A: yes- I would recommend tagging them in a polite comment thanking them for their offer and letting them know that (a) either your price is firm or (b) that you’ve sent a counter offer with your lowest price.
I always recommend sending a counter offer, as this is your best bet of making the sale! 💕
If you’ve already made the counter offer, then they’ve received it, and it’s up to them to make a decision. They’ve already received the notification.
karisrenee
It’s up to them to accept, counter, or decline. But either way, it doesn’t stop your listing from being available to others in the meantime, so I wouldn’t rush them to make a decision. This contemplation time does not affect your visibility or ability to sell to someone else.
So, even if they decide to not make a move at all, the previous offer will expire after a certain time.
karisrenee
Additionally, you have the option to share your item(s) directly to the user’s shopping bag bundle. This used to be called like the “digital fitting room”, but I’m not sure if they use that term anymore 😊
Basically, this is just when you share your items like usual, but you select or type in the user’s name that you specifically want to send it to.
(Just scroll up a bit to see the latest chat we had about “sharing to a bundle/fitting room/styling a client”. That is another fun selling tool!)
karisrenee
From there, you can initiate your own offers and communicate with your buyer in private comments.
🎀
But the point is, if you’re already going back-and-forth with a user on offers, they already know when you’ve sent a counter. So reminding them to respond or decline isn’t exactly necessary. between you and I, many users actually find it very annoying.
karisrenee
But if you’d still like to help them or have a feeling that perhaps they’re not so familiar with the app features, then usually a simple comment on that listing will do.
Here’s an example:
“Hi @ name. Thanks for your interest in this piece! I sent you a counter offer with my lowest price, so I hope you’re able to accept! I ship every day at Xpm and would love to include this for you”
(of course, change this up to make it true/applicable for you lol)

jlwoydziak
Hi! Great closet! Question. How do you post an item that is unisex? (e.g. backpack) I feel like I have to duplicate it so it shows under both men’s and women’s feeds, but then when I sell it I have to remember to remove the other one. Have any tips or tricks? Thanks!
karisrenee
@jlwoydziak I’ve been thinking about this one, and I think that doing a duplicate listing is your best bet at having the item appear both places (but remembering to delete it could be hard. I say it’s worth it to sell the item so just maybe try to keep the duplicate listings next to each other at all times. When you share one, share the other too)!
karisrenee
@jlwoydziak I’d also try putting the terms “unisex” and “fits a woman size x / men’s size x” for reference in the descriptions. This will help with with searchable terms that people are looking for online too!
(Last thing! As always, with duplicate listings, maybe include a note in comments or listing description that you only have 1 available so no one bundles them lol)
jlwoydziak
@karisrenee all awesome suggestions! Thank you!
karisrenee
Q:
@smilemonster asked: “I was just made an offer on one of my items, it was kind of low, but I am new and I thought, it would be nice to just have a sale, so I accepted. But then I received a notice that there was "an issue with the payment method". Whenever I purchase something from someone else and make an offer, the sale is binding and money is immediately taken from my account. After looking back through this person's account, I am finding a lot of this happening with her. Any advice?”
karisrenee
A:
The good news is that you don’t have anything to worry about. Poshmark has built a layer of protection in here to keep you from ever having an issue w people who use “questionable” cards 😅💳 Yes, typically, purchases made thru the app via offer or “buy now” are immediate & binding. However, that’s because people like you & I are using solid payment methods.
Here’s what I mean...
karisrenee
When a buyer, say, uses a stolen credit card or even a visa gift card (for example) with a balance too low to cover the cost, they can still enter this as their card of preference on the app. But when it comes time to make that immediate charge with a binding offer or purchase, The Poshmark financial team flags the transaction for you when they see that their payment method is not valid/working (but this can be for a variety of reasons).
🎀💳💶💷💵💴💰💸🎀
karisrenee
Either way, you are protected. Posh sends you that notification to protect you from shipping out to someone who has a funky payment record.
And if you’re seeing similar activity on that buyer’s page, then it’s more than likely that this is a person with a bad habit of using questionable payment methods.
karisrenee
But @smilemonster, say it was a stolen card for example: in those situations, eventually, anything purchased while the card is stolen gets refunded to the cardholder/bank when the investigation is clear. You wouldn’t want to get a call from posh in 6mo talking about “sorry girl we had to take $168” (or whatever amount lol) “from your acct to cover this unauthorized purchase”. 😒☎️
karisrenee
You wouldn’t even want the item back at that point, and if that refund didn’t come from you, it would have to come from the Poshmark team that authorized the purchase in the 1st place.
And nobody wants either scenario, so this is how they try to keep you protected. They’d rather block the transaction ASAP and request the buyer to use a different payment method in order to proceed.
karisrenee
See, whenever you get that notification saying that there was an issue with the payment method, the buyer ALSO receives a notification asking them to use a different card.
⭐️Customer Service Tip:⭐️You could leave a friendly message asking the buyer to update their payment method so that you can complete the order for them.
However, if this is a pattern you’re seeing a lot of on their page, it’s unlikely that they’ll fix it and re-purchase. But it’s always worth a try!
smilemonster
@karisrenee This is a GREAT resource! I thank you so much for sharing it with me. I had left a friendly reminder on her page... that was where I discovered her history, (and found you in there ;) She has since come back and rebounded that same item with another item and made another incredibly low offer for BOTH items. I have not responded. Just not sure what to do with her. She also made ANOTHER low ball offer on a similar piece in my closet. Why would I accept the 2nd and 3rd offers if she had
smilemonster
@karisrenee had not paid for the first offer. The whole event has left a disappointing bad taste in my mouth. But I won't let one person ruin something that has introduced me to a million good ones. I really appreciate your help and response. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
smilemonster

Hi @dgodwin73 🎀 I sent you a couple of articles, but I think you’ll also get a kick out of this listing. In the comments, there are tons of questions and answers between me and another folks on the app, and I think it’s really helpful! Give me a shout if you still have any questions.
Xo
dgodwin73
@karisrenee Oh wow! Thank you so much. I can’t wait to get on here and read all of the good tips for starting up, and hopefully continuing to be successful at it. You are definitely a Godsend. I don’t remember how I ran across you on here, but I’m grateful that I did.
dgodwin73
@karisrenee The fact that you’re doing this for everyone by giving your advice, your personal trials and errors, as well as just the breakdown of how things go, just reinsures me of the exact words I commented to you the first time I reached out. You are gorgeous!! Now I know that it’s on the inside as well as the outside.
dgodwin73
@karisrenee There’s just not a lot of selfless people in this world anymore, and you precious girl; you definitely are. Thank you for all you do. I’ll be in touch. Till then, be proud of yourself, you are making a huge difference in this world. It’s very appreciated!! XOXO! ❤️
karisrenee
@dgodwin73 aww!! You are so kind 💗 I really do hope that this info helps! Your sweet message has made my day.
Just give me a shout if you need anything, and I’m happy to help. I’ve been shopping and selling on this app since 2012, so I’ve just about seen it all 😅
If we end up snowed-in today (in Texas), I might end up posting some Instagram videos about selling, so I’ll tag you.
Happy poshing!
dgodwin73
@karisrenee okay that sounds awesome. You’re very welcome by the way, it’s very deserving. Stay warm, and I’ll talk to you soon. ☺️

How do I get my sales report of 2022 so I can claim this on my taxes? I can’t get any answers and can’t get my sales report. Nobody to speak to about this either. Please help
karisrenee
@bentleychick hey girlfriend! Have you tried checking your “my seller tools“? If you tap your profile username on the bottom right of the app and scroll down to where it says, “my seller tools”, you will see a page that has options for your sales report by date as well as your tax information and whether or not you would like to receive a digital form via email. 💌
bentleychick
@karisrenee Hello yes I did that and when I try to get report it just comes back error 404 and I’ve message support to no avail it’s delaying me getting my taxes done too
karisrenee
@bentleychick totally understandable! If you go to those options that you see when you tap your profile, at the very bottom, there is a section that includes an option titled “poshmark status”. That’s usually where it shows features that are malfunctioning or running AOK.
karisrenee
If I am reading that page correctly, then I think that they are having a temporary issue with the 1099 form being downloadable, so that sounds a lot like the issue you’re experiencing. I would continue checking that section for updates (since it sounds like a technical issue that the team is working on). It will likely take the support team several days to get back to you 🥲
