R. BRIGGS & CO. Vintage Hand-painted Strawberry 6” Plates FRANCE- Set of 4

Cottagecore French imported porcelain bread and butter plates - hand painted and sold by renowned importer Richard Briggs and Co. in Boston. Painted with vibrant fruit and flowers and with a strawberry vine the plates are charming and feminine. Set of 4 6” Plates are hand numbered as a set and I have never seen a Briggs and Co. set with strawberries! Originally founded as Sumners & Co. in 1798. Richards Briggs inherited the business in 1861. The store was known as an importer and vendor of fine china, glass, and crockery-ware. They were located on Washington Street, Boston, MA; however, by the 1920's they had relocated to the fashionable Newbury Street. The company went out of business around 1946. Wonderful condition, fruit and flowers maintain gorgeous vivid color. There is some wear on the gold rims of two of the scalloped plates but it does not detract from their charm!
