The spine of the rings has some scratches I think, but I didn't want to start taking a scraper to see if it would come off. The inside has normal wear and tear, the outside has no apparent defects, no scratches but there it is a little darker where the gromets are placed. This holds standard personal-size planner inserts (6.75x3.75").
