Here’s a rarely found vintage boudoir set by designer Odette Barsa: a fluffy, cuddly white satin robe, paired with its matching cap-sleeved A-line gown; both pieces feature hand-embroidered florals. The robe is a long-sleeved wrap-style done in white satin, light & fluffy as a cloud & fully lined in white. I believe there is a very light filler or quilting between the shell & the lining, as it is quite voluminous although surprisingly lightweight. The robe is trimmed along the neckline & down the front edges in light blue, and has tiny hand-embroidered blue flowers & greenery scattered all over, just like a field of pretty bluebells. There’s an inside tie & an outer detachable sash, for which there are belt loops. There are two hidden hand pockets, one on each side seam. (The robe is an unusual and rarely-seen style by Ms. Barsa. I am one of her most ardent admirers, yet I’ve only ever run across one similar.) The matching gown to this cutie is also white satin, trimmed in the same blue trim at the neckline & down the front bodice. It has a standing collar & tiny looped buttons down to the empire waist. The front bodice is also decorated w/the same tiny embroidered florals as the robe. The gown’s floor-length skirt is a gathered A-line. Likely made in the early 60s, this set is both sumptuous & adorable. It’s sheer providence I found both pieces, as I acquired each separately. Both are in very good vintage condition with no notable flaws. Both pieces are size Small.
