Victor Jules Bergeron, Jr. (December 10, 1902 – October 11, 1984) founded a chain of Polynesian-themed restaurants that bore his nickname, "Trader Vic". He was one of two people who claimed to have invented the Mai Tai. The Trader Vic nickname was given to him by his first wife, Esther, because of his habit of swapping meals and drinks for supplies and services. Victor Bergeron was also an American Postwar & Contemporary sculptor. He was a writer and self-taught artist of various mediums, and he wrote many books on food and drink. This vintage, ceramic, duck planter is marked V. Bergeron. Signed on the bottom: V. Bergeron There are stilt marks on the bottom from the hand glazing process. The condition is good with crazing and some scratches from previous use. I have seen only two other green planters like this, but with “Trader Vic’s” written on the bottom. This one is special because it has Mr. Bergeron’s mark on the bottom. Measures: 6” Tall at its tallest point 6” Wide 14.5” Long
