Rare and hard to find Hedi Schoop yellow ballerina ceramic planter. Circa 1940s. This piece is in nearly mint condition with only a few minor paint chips on the inside rim. Planters were among some of her earliest work and this is an absolutely stunning example of her work during the early 40s. This is a very special piece. The pictures and videos don’t do it justice.
About the artist:
Hedi Schoop was born in 1906 and began her career as a dancer and cabaret artist before turning to sculpture art in the late 1930s. She emigrated Los Angeles where she went on to open a ceramics factory where she designed and sold her artwork successfully for 20 years before retiring in 1958. Her work was popular then and has since gone on to be sought after by collectors.
