REMARKABLE 1930s' BEIGE HAT WITH ORANGE FEATHER TRIM

This highly unusual 1930s' hat consists of a cap made of carefully fringed beige felt strips, creating a most unusual crown, ending with orange felt bows under 3 beige fringed bows at the center front, which hold two criss-crossed orange feathers. By the early 1930’s crowns became shallow once again to accommodate the decade’s fuller curled hairstyles. Made by the Merrimac Hat Company. FELT IMPRINT: MADE IN USA MERRIMAC HAT CORP. The Merrimac Hat Company was a prominent manufacturer of hats from the 1860s until the 1950s, employing up to 500 people in its manufacturing facilities in Amesbury, Massachusetts and another 1,500 in facilities from Alabama to Nova Scotia.This hat was made to be a showstopper.
