They feature a Goodyear welted (vs cement glued) sole which is a hallmark of high quality boots (https://www.cobbler-union.com/blogs/journal/what-is-goodyear-welted). This means they can be re-soled for years to come. Another hallmark of RMs is the single piece of leather used to mold to each foot - note there’s no seam below the elastic sides - making them dressier, more comfortable and more water resistant.
