Starting in 1998, it was the site of a charitable program for seriously ill children, founded by long-time radio personality Don Imus and his wife, Deirdre. The organization sought to help children with cancer or serious blood diseases. The goal was to provide kids with an experience of living on a cattle ranch free of charge, to build their self-confidence and sense of belonging. It later years opened to siblings of SIDS victims. It closed in 2014.
