ROMAN GOLD ROYAL CHINA 22 KARAT HANDPAINTED FLORAL CHINA SERVING DISH Pattern: Roman Gold (but has a floral handpainted motif, not figures) Company: Royal China Era: pre-1940s Square serving dish with beautifully shaped "lip" around central bowl-depression 22 Karat gold encrusted porcelain with burgundy banding and floral hand-painted "French Decoration" 8" x 8" square; 2" deep. The known history is as follows: My grandparents purchased a house in Pacific Palisades in the early 1940s completely furnished by an interior decorator - they bought everything in the house, down to the linens, china, silverware, artwork, etc. This set was included and, as far as I know/remember, was rarely (if ever) used.
