Beautiful vintage irdescent purple, long trench coat (duster) in very good condition. This rare piece of designer history features an iridescent lilac-plum base with a periwinkle-ultra violet floral pattern. The coat is lined with gardenia-colored silk fabric with a “CD” pattern.
Includes two front pockets and large buttons with a flap to conceal the buttons when the coat is closed. The coat is missing one button, shown in photo.
The tag reads size eight, but it fits more like a 10-14. It runs large.
It was purchased, we believe, in the ‘80s by my aunt who rarely used it. There are no holes or fading on the outer pattern or inside liner.
There is a Christian Dior designer label behind the collar and three small tags on the inside right of the liner. Size 8” (again fits more like a 10-14), “Dry clean only,” and ILGWU United States union tag indicating the coat was made between 1975-1995.
Materials: Polyester and Silk
49.5” center back length
23” pit to pit
28” arm length
FYI: Christian Dior, the French fashion house, produced clothing in the United States in the 1980s. In 1980, Christian Dior opened a factory in New York to make its ready-to-wear collections for the American market. The factory, located in Long Island City, Queens, was intended to help the company meet the growing demand for its products in the United States. However, the factory was short-lived, as it closed in 1986 due to declining sales and financial difficulties faced by the company.
