This stone is stunning! Custom cut so that the facets create a flower motif, this gorgeous 20.45 Carat stone is a Brazillian origin "Deep Siberian" Amethyst with the signature deep purple color, slight blue hue, and sparks of red. While amethyst itself is not rare, "Deep Siberian" is a superior grade and very rare shade, with a primary purple hue of 75-80% purple and 15-20% blue and red secondary hues. At VVS1 Clarity, stones of this beautiful color and clarity were worth on average $125/carat at wholesale in 2012, although with the mines depleted they are now being valued at closer to $215/carat, and the highest quality and clarity stones like this one go for around $300/carat. For reference, I included a listing of a stone about half this size for sale at $2,280.
