*Rare* A. Gianelli Italian Bust Sculpture with Marble Base

Made in Italy. Genuine Carrara marble. A pale pink bust sculpture of a woman. Flaws are as pictured. Has scuffs and needs a good cleaning, but it’s beautiful and unique either way. This appears to be one of a kind - I haven’t been able to find another like it. Bought this a while back in an antique store for $180. The artist, A. Giannelli, born in Volterra in 1907, was a keen student of sculpture and graduated from the Royal School of Art. In 1944 he opened his own studio and produced pieces also for the Allied Forces. He was an Italian master sculpture and the president of the "Alabaster Craftsman Guild" from 1953 until 1961.
