So I finally took it to the LV store and guess what.... It is very authentic and a rare special edition at that! She said its a domestic bag that was only out for a small amount of time. Not that many of these out as well as as it's in excellent condition given that it is over 30 years old and a collectors item! These are all the words from the expert at the store in this line of purses

brookejaimie I'm not sure it's authentic because speedies are made with one piece of leather that wraps all the way around. This one has a cut in the middle of the bottom. Not sure I've seen an authentic that looks like this.

But it was such a beautiful fake I had no idea for years! I finally figured it out recently because one of my best friends worked as a manager at our coach store. I was destroyed.

sparkleandtrim I don't think it's real because the print pattern should repeat ALL the way around the bag...even after the seams and even if the leather is cut because of the seam it should still perfectly repeat without hesitation. I see on the seam of your bag where the pattern is off.

baabynegrete @taylorzapatero Hi hun, your bag could be real they do cut the leather at time but they will not cut through the LV on any of there bags. I see on this one they do not. The other thing is for the age of the bag the number could have fallen off. I have a vintage LV myself and the number has came off with age. You can take it to a high end store that code look at it and let you know. If I was you I would sell in the same price range as you. For these is a rare bag and vintage. Good luck great bag!!😍

jamison007 @taylorzapatero The Louis Vuitton company with authenticate your bag for you in person or by mail, free of charge. However, they won't issue it in writing if the bag turns out to be real. LV didn't start adding date codes until the 1980's, so if this bag is from the '70's there probably wouldn't be one. I'm a little suspicious of the tag and the split seam at the bottom. I would contact LV and they will know for sure!

melasonde The leather on the handles doesn't look right. The French company tag looks ok and the fabric was cut for some older models. I can't say 100% since I'm not familiar with this bag. I would post the pictures on the purse forum. They have more expertise than I do.

tiffanyqueen Hi honey. I've been collecting lv for years and this seems to be an authentic lv made by the French company. The French company was a company that Louis Vuitton authorized to manufacture their goods. The speedys made by the French company are a little different from the ones made by Louis Vuitton themselves. For example the handles are different and also the one made by Louis Vuitton is made with one entire piece of leather. I'm 90% sure this is an authentic vintage Louis Vuitton made by the French company. You can google this information. And do it before you price it :-) good luck selling. It's a beautiful bag :-)

tiffanyqueen Yes take it there. They will tell you for sure and I think it's worth pretty much the same but it seems authentic to me. I once purchased one made by the French company, it's a little harder to sell because a lot of people don't know about it. But my advice is don't sell if for peanuts. Not only it looks authentic it's also in great condition. I would purchase it but I already have all the speedy's.

vinny30 @taylorzapatero hney! I do believe its a Beautiful Vintage piece from the Louis Vuitton French Company. You have the main thing.. Which it used to be your Serial number. That is the Tag.. (They didn't used Serial Numbers before) they used a Talon.. The tag inside on the bottom of the purse.. I have never seen one like this.. Before.. The upside down logo on one side.. Missing?? Its really not missing..they used to use two different s pieces of Canvas to make it.. Thats why you don't have an upside down logo on one side. does the zipper saids.. TALON on it? If it does.. You have a really Beautiful Unique Piece!!

ghills32 @taylorzapatero This looks to be authentic and vintage based on your photos. One thing I usually notice with inspired LV bags is the leather on the handle and piping is usually light colored vs the real is darker. I can't afford to buy this be it real or faux but I'm interested to hear the verdict so pls tag me when you know. Either way its a great stylish piece!

vivasm This is an awesome vintage lv bag! All the naysayers before are not really familiar with the history of the brand. Congrats on having it authenticated. If you want to get the exact name of it and around the ballpark price I would try carol diva.com. It's 7$ well spent. But in all honesty, I would keep it!!
