Rare Gille Jeune 19TH Century French Bisque Porcelain Ornamental male figure. Beautifully have painted with exquisite detailing. The man is holding a basket with birds in it. In very good condition for his age, no wear to figurine but minor loss to back side of basket. See photos for details and condition.

Gille Jeune (FRENCH, 1798-1868)
The Parisian ceramicist known as Gille Jeune (French, 1798-1868) was born Jean-Baptiste Gille. In Paris, he started his Gille Jeune porcelain factory at 28, Rue du Paradis-Poissonnière, in 1836. He exhibited- and won awards for his work- in several 19th Century exhibitions in Paris as well as London. Today, his objects can be found in important collections and museums around the world.
