Rare Vintage Handwoven Coiled Grass Lidded Basket - Extra Large - Weighs 5 Lbs.

This is a Very Large and Rare Handwoven Coiled Grass Lidded Basket. Actual age & origin is unknown but likely African or Native American. Measures approximately 16” long x 12” wide x 8.5” deep and weighs 5 lbs. Natural color with design in dyed purple and blue. Dye was probably made from vegetable skins. The purple and blue colors are faded on the outside (likely by the sun) and brighter on the inside. Overall basket and lid are in very good condition (see pics). There is some asymmetry which is typical of handmade baskets like this one. Shipping box will be oversized and weight over 7 lbs. Seller will upgrade shipping label and pay the difference.
