Kichwa women in the Andes region craft these shigras (bags) by hand using agave plant fibers with natural dyes. The leather is made in the mountain region of Cotacachi and stitched by hand. The bag is woven from the bottom up for a seamless design. It’s intricately handwoven design draws us close to the artisan whose hands spent hours weaving together this piece.
