Antique Norwegian Wedding Broach Crown and Heart Exquisite design Most likely pewter since it had no stamp. Most old pewter pieces were not stamped, and valued for their design and craftsmanship, more than for the cost of the metal. Initials MLD on the big leaf. Most likely made for somebody’s wedding. The piece has two c clasps. C clasps were commonly used between 1850-1910. The less mechanical a clasp looks the older the broach is. Thicker pins tend to indicate an older item as they were designed to fit through multiples layers if thick fabric. This broach might have been updated at some point with a thinner second pin. This pin was brought back from Norway years ago, but I do not know the history of the pin. Great condition.
