This was personally owned by colonel Edward F Gehrke. We purchased it at his estate sale. He was a colonel in command of the first combat evaluation group at Plattsburgh AFB that closed in 1995. The plaque on the base where this bomber rests reads “ Edward f Gehrke Col USAF FB-111A flight 30 Jan 1975 Plattsburgh AFB NY
The description for the aircraft is
FB-111A USAF STRATEGIC BOMBER
GENERAL DYNAMICS
The wings on the plane articulate. Now the bad news : it has been broken and crudely repaired at some time. Please see photos where the rear part of the bomber has been glued together. It no longer rests tightly on the stand. I think the little peg as seen on the underside has broken off inside the stand.
It is still a historical piece of Air Force history and I would be asking much more it it were not damaged.
I will not combine any of the model aircraft that I am listing from Col Gehrke’s estate so that they can be packaged with extra care. I have not thoroughly cleaned the model. I simply brushed off the heavier dust.
